Yo wus hapnin Jostins. Mann I'm trippin out that they actually do it at Zero Gravity. I should've never underestimated it. I used to think that because it was in Bolingbrook that it wasn,t hittin on nothin so I never went. That was years ago though, now I'm too old to go. I've never been to Energy on a Thursday night, I've only been on Sunday nights when its called Nitro. They Juke and Footwork on Nitro night too, but once again I'm too old to be goin to that spot. Say mann if you ever hear of a place that does it and its 21 and up, preferably 25 and up, let me know about it. I'd appreciate it. I've been down south for a good minute and I'm tryna get back into the loop with what's goin on up here.
Stay Up! |

More clips en>fr fr>en By Stone Comments: 26, member since Wed Aug 15, 2001On Mon Oct 17, 2005 09:41 PM
Hey Jostins. The only other clips I know of are on the following CD/CD ROMS... Freaks and Hotelz, Southside Connection 3, and The Juke Factory. You can order the 1st two mentioned on jukezone.com, but you are gonna have to go and look for The Juke Factory at a couple of malls or music stores in the Chicagoland area. Some spots I suggest are River Oaks mall, Fox Valley Mall, Louis Joliet Mall, Evergreen Plaza, or Georges Music Room. That CD was made by DJ Spinn when he was down with Clownhouse but I don't think he's on the cool with them anymore. I don't know who has the rights to that CD. Go to spinnrecords.4t.com and get his email and send him a request. He'll hit you back. Later ON mann |

never seen / heard of this style before... maybe i'm trippin... but doesn't that kinda look like a combination of certain aspects of house dance footwork blended with certain aspects of rocking??? anyone else feelin me on this at all?
the footwork is pretty crazy, but that seems like all it is... really fast footwork in place.. there's no other movement... however, i'm fully aware that this is just a short ass clip and likely doesn't do the style justice... it has potential to evolve into more than what it is (or what it appears to be in this vid)
haha oh yeah, just an observation: why do they have such a big ass circle when the whole battle takes place in about 8 square feet? lolz... |

It's like Red bull type action footwork... but really the same footwork as many other house styles. Just dudes spazzin out on it. Thats some quick footwork! |

This style of dancing comes from house. When Ghetto House music first started it was the same tempo as house music. As the tempo of Ghetto House increased certain moves such as drops kind of faded and emphasis was put on speed and combinations. There are very few people who still do drops, flex, pop, or tick during a footwork battle. The battle now pretty much just focuses on footwork period. Everything else is pretty much done during routines or if someone is freestyling. This High School generation of Ghetto House footworkers primarily footworks. Eventually it'll get back to all that though.
As far as the size of the circle goes, I'm pretty sure it was spread out like that to ensure the camera captured everything for the DVD because most circles get closed in. At times any random person will jump in the battle. I think they may have also been trying to keep order. |

yo thanks 4 breaking down the history. I love to dance house and only learned about it in NY I spent a lot of time in Wisconsin and Chicago but didn't that it started there.Juke music or getto house is still really big in philly's retro clubs and I think people are bringing it back bit by bit. Are there house places in Vegas? I need to know, thanks. |

I'm from Jersey(just outside of Newark) and when I think of Ghetto House is I'll beat dat Bitch wit a Bat,It's Time for the Percolator,Is it on my Face,Like this etc. There's also a Dance they do to it which is god in many aspects!!I've seen some pretty interesting Battles! Some people do a Stolen Car Dance(Back then Newark was the Stolen Car Capitol of the World). They would do movements like they were hitting a Door wit a Screw Driver, then do movements like they were snatching the ignition wit a Pulley!!And to finish it they would act like they were driving and start doing donuts!!Sounds crazy but it didn't look bad!!I saw plenty of Kats get eaten up!I actually found a Site wit Kats from around the way that made it but I can't find the Site now! |

You and Deddrunk are wildn out! Those were some classic old school Ghetto House cuts. I still listen to that sh*t like "work that motha f***a," Pass the toilet paper, Let Me Bang, Don't forget all them IT tracks- you remember Pump IT, Move IT, and WORK IT! One of my all time favorites was Herky Jerk. |
