This is the High School team I coach in Australia ( most of the team are middle school aged for those of you who are from the US).
This was a pic of them practicing their stunts routine for Nationals.

Looking good kimmi, What did the school think when you got back with those second place medals? Hopefully that gives the kids some more confidence and Spirit.

Well Done!

Hey Dale, Ive had some really impressed teachers, and students at school since we came back, kind of good that the kids don't have to put up with some much bullying anymore just for being cheerleaders.
Now I just get called a tv star cause we were on sunrise lol. kids say I saw you on tv it's kind of like well duh really I didn't know I was on.

UCO yeah most are too young to actually be in high school if they were in the US, but over here high school is grade 7-12 these kids are grade 7-10.

This looks kind of sloppy. But it's good I guess. It isn't that easy of a highschool stunt. I guess.

It was the first time they had hit the stunt, so it doesn't look 100%, but how bout instead of just giving me criticism help by picking out the main ares that need fixing. Motions and looking up, got them (they usually do look up, but posed for the pic)

isn't criticism the exact same thing as giving you tips on what needs to be fixed? i mean obvioiusly you know what to fix now...

The first thing I thought was, wow, how can that girl fly in jeans?

But your girl in the black shorts, the flyer on the right, needs to lock her supporting leg. Her knee is way bent. It probably would open up the bodies of the jeans girl and the black shorts girl if they supported on the other leg and used the leg they are now standing on as the one that connects to your center flyer.

I think they've done really well to get that one, it looked great at comp.

I think turning them around was a great change to the normal pyramid.

I guess it goes to show that although we think the kids are doing well to learn all that, others still criticise jean wearing squad members. That is exactly the reason i closed my post on my Lib Pyramid, all i got was criticism on wearing jeans and having bare feet. It gets very tiring to hear people telling you off over Jeans or Boots.

They did well Kim and the Judges obviously did too, thats way they placed. Well done to them

Whoops, sorry, wow, I didn't mean to upset you. My first thought honestly was about the jeans.

And my point about the two lower flyers is that their hips aren't square to the crowd, and it's shrinking their waists and prevents a clean line. It's also allowing their bottom knees to be bent.

Sorry...I guess I thought that our community here was intended to be helpful, and full of advice. If you post something and every single person tells you it looks great, good job, fantastic work, then you can't learn anything from it. This has been for me a great way to learn, to get tips, to figure things out, and just to see how other people are doing it. I will take any advice anyone will take the time to offer! I know I can't go to the other cheer coaches around me and ask for their advice all of the time, as eventually we'll compete against them. This forum is an open and free way to get ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticism from other people, people nice enough to take their free time to offer it.

So, I am sorry if I offended you. I only meant to be helpful.

School Squads are popping up all round the uk as we speak, my team coaches about 7 teams at the moment and i know of quite a few others. Speak to yuor pe teacher about it if you'd like a team in your school, you'd be surprised how interested they would be.

I know you said you don't want to hear about jeans but the expsoed metal zippers buttons etc. can be dangerous to the bases. Wearing jeans also hinders flexibility. I can't imagine a te touch in jeans. We actually had a boy split normal shorts doing a toue touch so wearing jeans could hold her back. It also looks unprofessional. What if people on your hs basketball team showed up to practice in jeans? They would probab;y be told to leave and then have to do conditioning or something as punishment. If you make it clear the jeans aren't cheer clothes and there will be a consequnce you won't have to worry about it. Maybe getting a team t shirt and shorts that everyone has to wear would solve the attire problem. It's definetley a better pyrmamid from your lest post. Good job on the improvement!

hey to me that looks really good... it looks like a group of young people who are really enjoying themselves!! which is the main thing!! plus its a fun picture that was taken... i guess in a normal situation they would be looking up and the other things that people have mentioned.

That looks really good, the base people have to have a lot of strength and the flyers have to have alot of balance and coordination. Good work!

Yeah I wasn't impressed with the jeans myself, but she turned up with out anything else to work in and it was the first time I had the whole team together...the jeans had no zips though or she wouldn't have been allowed to fly.

Thanks D for sticking up for me.

And to those of you who have posted tips thanks... I tried the fliers facing the front, and one didn't have the flexibility or strength to keep her leg up to the side. She is the one with the bent knee. We've been working on that though.
