we dont have to wear anything particular but our teacher doesnt like if we wear long trousers or jeans or things like that ! lol usually i just wear a large t-shirt n shorts! xx sho xx

I put anything because honestly my TC doesn't care what we wear...it's kinda annoying sometimes, but at least I don't have to worry about what I wear

I weara Shorts and Poodle Socks (so that the teacher could see the legs perfectly) together with a T-Shirt or Tanktop.

I wear random shorts and a random t-shirt!

athletic shorts, waffle/bubble/poodle socks, and a t-shirt (not one of the long, lean, designer tee's, but the big, baggy, only-for-exercising tees)

I dont know if this counts as a uniform, but we have to wear shorts that are at least a couple inches above the knee, socks that are above the ankle but below the knee, and a tank top(to show and help with posture). Our tc gets really angry when we wear anything else lol.

we HAVE to wear black shorts and the school shirt. it's kind of good because we have this big window on the side that's open to the street - people look in all the time but i guess it's good to look put together and neat!!

because i teach for dance studios (www.vicdamore.com , centerstagedca.com) my students are asked to wear leo's and skirts or shorts. I ask that my students at vic's to wear poodle socks or tights, the girls at center stage wear whatever they want (drives me nuts) and my girls at south shore (no website) wear leo's, skirts and tights.
I usually wear shorts with poodle socks or leggings with ankle socks and a t-shirt or teachers tee.

the requirements are no jeans, and if you have long pants, they have to be rolled up above the ankle.

Personally, I wear tennis skirts with either a tshirt, or a tank. If I do wear pants, they are usually loose legged capries or gauchos. However, I get too hot, so I go for less.

My teacher isn't very strict about what we wear; just no pants! I ussually wear Soffe shorts and a t shirt. We always have to have our hair up and out of our face though!

My teacher really doesn't care what we wear. She doesn't want pants so long that we'd trip over them, jeans are absolutely not acceptable, and wearing shorts under a skirt is pretty necessary as well, but other than that, I've never had any negative comments on my attire, and I pretty much wear my school clothes to dance.

i tend to wear black leggings white singlet and big black top over it.
and poodle socks always, or stockings.

We wear a black Soffe SKORT and t-shirt with school's name and emblem embroidered- poodle socks too. We are fined if we come to class not in uniform. haha

My school's "dress code" is shorts, poodle socks, t-shirt (no short sleeves) and hair in a ponytail/off the face.

I used to dance in normal socks, but my legs have aquired so many scars and bruises from shoes that now it's kind of embarassing to wear normal socks.

My school has no requirements other than don't wear pants and you MUST wear dance shoes- ghillies, heavies, or dance sneakers if you're injured. Trainers are OK for warmup.

But, i am hoping to get my TCRG soon and start my own school, or at least take a more commanding role in my current school, and i have a lot of changes I want to make, dress code being one of them.

I think it is actually important to have dancers all look the same. It does affect what you see or what you don't see. There used to be one girl who always wore these really bright red shorts and she got SO many comments. She asked me one day why I didn't tell other dancers as much, she was worried she wasn't as good as them. i thought about it and its because when I looked at the studio, everybody was pretty bland, but there was this one flash of color that stood out. I just watched her more!

SO, as a TC, I'd like to require dancers wear the class uniform- shorts or skort with an appropriate top and poodle socks. And yes- crazy socks are distracting.

My school recently moved into a more "official" studio and the studio has some pretty strict requirements- different colored tights and leotards depending on your class level. And man, they look SO pro compared to my class. We're all in just whatever we wear.

Oh yes, I'm very bored.
We have sap green school trackies that say irish Dance the bum, a grey school hoodie with our logo on the back (I've got my name on mine), a green and white school Polo top which is made of fabric that stops you from getting sweatmarks, green school shorts that say Irish Dance on the bum, made of the same fabric as the top, they're mini shorts length because all us Seniors kept showing up in mini shorts & a grey muscle back top with our school logo on it. I normally wear ankle socks to class although we're supposed to wear Poodle Socks its not really inforced. Ankle or poodle socks but no stockings. My TC says its for hygiene reasons because of the material stockings is made from but were allowed tights. The boys have their own shorts that are similar to the girls shorts but a little longer and with nothing on the bum, they also have a mens muscle back.

we used to be able to wear whatever so long as it was within reason (aka, no jeans or long pants, and no girls hanging out for a visit ) but we now have a uniform. theres 3 different shorts we can wear (red, black, blue...they all say BFOC on them) and theres three different t-shirts that also say BFOC on them.
theyre super cute and save tons of time trying to put together an outfit cause they all basically match!

I picked other. The reason being is that I've been told that there is a uniform of sorts that being shorts and a loose T-shirt (preferably the school Tshirt.) However, I hardly every see a school T-Shirt worn in any of the classes I have watched. And the shorts-wearing seems to stop dead in my class. The others in my class tend to wear stretchy capri pants instead except for our teacher who does wear dance shorts and the occasional tights undernieth. I do wear dance shorts on occasion but I tend to wear a type of skort that has a skirt panel on both front in back instead of just front with leggings underneith. Green leggings. well i take irish step and regular"" dance

for irish i have to wear the school shorts or skirt/skort or jumper, with any school tank/tee/shirt/blouse/top

for other i can wear whatever i want.

tap: usually footless tights with shorts and a tee
hip hop: sweats/shorts/leggings and a tank or sweatshirt
contemporary" shorts with footless tights and a tank
ballet we have to wear a black leotard with pink tights and a bun

oh yeah... I wore jeans to my last tap class because I forgot my change of clothes and they were stretchy jeans. I was so embarrassed. Everyone else wore shorts/tights/leotard. I forgot, and the instructor was kind and let me dance anyway.

We have to wear black top and black bottoms. I also wear tights, because that's what I wear for comps. Our teachers just need to be able to see our technique clearly, and so appropriate costume helps with that. The all black thing comes from a desire to have uniformity while choreographing, so that the dancing really shines instead of the colour of shirt.

We do have a uniform which is a navy blue t-shirt or tank top with the schools logo and a navy skirt which I used to wear but I grew out of it ages ago and I have never got around to buying a new one since i've only just started dancing after a year off for leg injuries.
So all i wear is either a blue or black polo shirt and a skirt. For some reason i hate dancing in shorts i find it so uncomfortable.
Do any of you have any links to some good skirts /skorts to wear dancing i'm dancing in my school uniform skirt and the moment because all the skirts i have are too tight to dance in.

I voted what ever I want but really my school has a dress code black top red skirt for little ones and just black and red for the intermediate/open class. But everybody just wears what they want as long as it is shorts and a tanktop/t-shirt. We are not allowed to wear long pants because then our teacher cant see our legs.
