As we all know, the young ones have litle to no attention span. So here's a few games me and/or the other CM teacher made up that normally work pretty well.
Sleepy Giant
Get one little girl of boy, to "fall asleep" with a doll (we use a rag doll). The other students go to the other end of the room and tip toe towards the Sleepy Giant. As long as the Sleepy Giant has their eyes closed, the kids move forward, but as soon as he/she awakes, they have to stop moving. Once a kid reaches the doll, they must pick it up and run back towards the back wall, or the starting point, with the Sleepy Giant chassing after them. The kid with the doll is the next Sleepy Giant, unless the previous one tags him/her.
Teaches taking turns and uh...yeah.
Rag doll Game
Start off by asking them “ How does a rag doll stand up/move?” They, answer and then ask “ How do you stand up”? Tel them you’re like puppets with magic strings, etc. Be creative.
Then, get them all to fall asleep and one by one, pick them up and put them in Rag Doll position ( standing on their feel and bent forward so their arms hand out in front on them). Explain to them they’re princess Rag Dolls in the store and you’re the shop keeper. One every one is in place on the selves, the shop keeper will leave and the Rag doles magically come to life at the sound of the door closing/shop keeper leaving. Super cute with SugarPlum Fairy music playing.
Season Games
Fake leaves for autumn. Ask them how leaves change colour. Simple..Red leaves are changed by Red Fairies that dance on them, yellow leaves, yellow fairies...etc. All this happens when they sleep. Spread the fake leaves around the room and tell them they’re the fairies that change the leaves colour. At the end, tell them you can pick up more then they can and in no time..the leaves are back into the bag/basket. Another fun thing and super cute is pouring the leaves over their heads while they stand in a clump.
Winter - fake snow flakes. Same game but with snow flakes basically. NutCracker music. Read them the nut cracker and get them to act out parts of the story ( party scene, sugarplum dance, etc).
Spring - Umbrellas. Or make them be flowers that grow.
