Tumbling is hard to come by pretty much anywhere but the US to be honest. Look at most international competitions and the majority of teams only have a handful of decent tumblers. Most teams are happy with a couple of back handsprings never mind standing tucks. |

that's crazy. my whole squad but two girls has a standing back tuck, and those two girls are pretty close. i guess you could say they have it, but they're the only two people that aren't consisentent |

UCO: You have no idea how lucky you are! I know standing back tucks are normal in the USA, but really, you are sooo lucky. I guess it also has something todo with the gymnastics her. There are no such thing as cheerleading-tumnling-lessons. Just regular tumbling lessons where they jump on a tramploline half of the time :S |

Even here in Australia (where there is quite a gymnastics culture) gymnasts are hard to come by. Case in point there is only one team that has full team tumbling and their requirements to make the team is round off bhs and round off tuck. They have a few layouts and 1 maybe 2 fulls etc. But that's the top of what we've got here. |

yeah, a little bit of luck i guess, along with A LOT of hard work. the all-star squad i was on before i graduated high school we had very hard conditioning so we would have our sbt. like 50 back tucks at the end of practice. and we do that on UCO, too.
i understand what you're saying about classes though. i won't lie, i've had some amazing tumbling coaches and i'm so thankful for them. i've had a couple bad ones too, but they never last long because they always got fired lol! are there no tumbling classes at gymnastics gyms there? you don't always have to be a cheer gym to learn tumbling. tumbling technique is the same whether you're a gymnast or cheerleader. i taught a power tumbling class at a gymnastics gym in Edmond last year.
...and if you can't find one, maybe you could ask the owner of a local gymnastics gym to START offering a tumbling class for your girls. if they know they will already have people who want to take the class, i'm sure they'll want offer the class. |

Your bow and arrow is really good! How do you do one? I can do a high heel stretch but I don't really know how to do a bow and arrow. |

just keep doing your splits and keep trying to pull that bow and arrow until you can finally do it. it's not going to happen overnight. it also helps if you lean over your front leg when you do your splits. you'll feel a burn if you're doing it right. |

I can do the splits and put my nose to the ground when I lean over my front leg so I'll keep on practicing for it.
Thanks for the help! =) |

instead of putting your nose to the ground, turn your body and lay your shoulder on it |

I agree about pointing the toes. My daughter was doing the same thing as in the picture until her coaches told her she had to point her toes. Pointing your toes while doing a nice bow and arrow is much more difficult than the unpointed foot. So I guess I'm saying while this bow and arrow is good and better than alot of bow and arrows I have seen on other teams, it's not perfect and wouldn't be until the toes are pointed too. Also, someone else said to grab your ankles to point, but my daughter can point now while holding her foot. |

yes, but if you grab your ankle, you can also pull your leg farther behind you AND it's easier to point your toe. if you grab your foot, you have to reach farther. |
