I'm starting to feel like this rg board is not for me anymore. All we seem to have is a list of different single picture posts on the disscusion boards, the picture board and the members picture board. Its chaos and is flooded with posts saying; isn't she beautiful. look at her flexibility.
I know theres more to rg than this and more appropriate ways of showing pictures.
Perhaps I'm the only one, and maybe you like the way the board is run...
But if you don't please voice yourself in this thread and while everyone can read it I'll also send it to a mod.
With all these pictures it takes ages for the page to load for some people and then when its loaded, theres nothing to discuss except "yes..she is flexible" etc.
I did a quick count and found that over half of posts on the first page are these picture posts I'm talking about...posts that don't need to be on this board.
If you like the board flooded with pictures and meaningless posts, thats fine. I'm just one person with one opinion and I want to know yours.

yes i agree. i think that if you want to post more than one picture every few days that simply deal with flexability stuff (or the same subject why not post them in the same post. i too find the boards getting cluttered with too many posts of the same thing over and over again. Besides there's much more to gymnastics than just being super flexible.
i think that it would also be nice for people who post tons of photos to keep their numbers of new posts limited. I don't mean that they shouldnt post, just that if you have more than three picture posts on the front page wait until they are farther down or lock your old posts before you make a new one. That way itll be easier for people to navigate through the forums.

im happy that you brought this topic up because i was starting to get kinda annoyed with pretty much the same stuff.

I totally agree, and that's the reason that I haven't written or visited this forum so often, it annoys me a lot as it seems only contortion is important to some persons. That's the less interesting part of RSG for me, so...

what wouls you like to talk about?
if i talk about rg i m forced to post a rg picture no with it?
and you ahve to agree that rg is also a lot of wonderful poses that remind of course contortionism.
I personnaly don t really "love" this part of new rg but it became like that unfortuntetly.

I'm sorry Atonia I don't understand your post properly so excuse me if I mis interpret.
1. You don't have to post a picture with every thread. (I didn't post a picture with mine. And I believe pictures on this board are only meant to accompany a post not be a post)
2. There are plenty of things to talk about in rsg besides the flexibility of athletes.
eg, -Shareing links to interviews with gymnasts in them
-Musics you like
-Routines that inspire you
-Advices on training particular things
-Latest results of competitions
etc etc etc.
3. Yes the gymnasts of our sport are very beautiful and great flexibitlity is inspiring and poetic in pictures BUT that is not the only thing worth discussing on this board and its no excuse to post multiple pictures in seperate threads. There is a gym photos -misc board. Thats the place for gymnastic/contortion pictures. If you want to share/view flexibility images thats the place.
I whole heartedly agree Atonia that our sport really is a beautiful one. I hope I'm not appearing rude and I don't wish to dismiss anyones views. I know theres more to our sport than pictures lets give us all a chance to see that by keeping picture posts on the picture boards.

That's exactly the reason why I am member of the rsg.net forum for RG and gymworld.de for AG.
Here you only get photos of poses (in most cases not always but still 90%). Often the board just gets flooded by ten new topics each containing a picture of a contortion pose saying wow, she's flexible...
On rsg.net routines get discussed, coaches en techniques get discussed, music, interviews and videos are shared, there are some international gymnasts part of the board, a staff member of the Deriugin's school as well and almost every photographer drops by every once and a while. There are often long reports of major competitions (and that is what I miss most here not a single competition has a decent discussion going on, nor in the RG forum nor in the AG forum, sometimes I wonder whether or not people here are interested in the competition part of the sports). And last but not least if you have a question regarding the code there are experts on those boards who can probably answer your question.

It's sad that it seems that the idea of rhythmic gymnastics that is projected on this board is- contortion. Flexibility.

Rhythmic gym is so much more than that.

Karma for you!

I have to add one thing: it is not wrong to post A picture but if you do please have a good reason for it.
Not the "I can't count them anymore" contortion position of Kazakova and adding the comment: WOW SHE'S FLEXIBLE! WHAT DO YOU THINK? we know that she's flexible we've seen multiple pictures proving that and believe it or not we all have access to her website (plus it's kind of copyright violation to just dump all her pictures here).

If you post a picture make sure it's something special, something we haven't seen before or that we can all find by using google. And use arguments why you are posting the picture and not the: pretty pose what's your opinion, kind of posts.

Oh and if you do feel the urge to post multiple pictures anyway please do so in ONE thread not 10 different ones all containing the same message. I've explained how you can most a various amount of pictures in one post and I believe that topic is still pinned on top of the board.

I agree 100%! What happened to the rest of RG??? Anyone looking on this board who didnt know what RG was would just think its a different kind of contortion... so sad that so much of the wonder of RG is lost here... I rate there should be a separate board for contortion, cause then there would be absolutely no excuse for posting all these "OMG all I can say is wow! She is so flexible" pics here AND a place for them all... Not that they're bad or anything, but there is so much more to RG...

Anyway, thats just my opinion

Atonia, actually, you don't have to post a picture with every post, and the mods, and more members then anyone can count have asked you to STOP posting so many pictures.

What part about that was confusing?

If you guys want better discussion to take place, start better discussions.

illusiongirl,

You make a very good point. There is no individual place to go for contortion but there should be!

While RG has changed significantly over the years from a time when a contortion position would lose marks if presented during a performance (RSG was the name then) the Eastern bloc have made sure that RG presentations have contortion positions.

But contortion is contortion, RG is RG, ballet is ballet and there are very significant differences in each art form.

I agree with you that there needs to be an individual subject to cover the artform that is simply contortion.

Ian (Trainer of contortionists)
