How do you make skating boot covers?

I really need to make some because my skates are getting damaged by my lunging (I'm going to have to paint them, as I can't afford new ones) and I need to make the covers so my paintwork doens't get damaged. Can someone please post a pattern and advice? Or PM me and give me a pattern? I'm not great at sewing either, but they don't sell them where I skate....any adivice would be appreciated more than words can say!!! :)
Thanks,
Toria

You could just get over the boot tights. I have no idea how to make your own boot covers, but I don't think they're that expensive to buy.

nah because the tights don't cover the whole boot. Anyone else? But thanks anyway, I'll have a look on ebay - I just wanted to make them to match a costume.

They sell patterns for boot covers online - I can't think of a particular place that sells them, but any site that sells figure skating dress patterns will more than likely sell boot covers too - hope this helps.

Over the boot covers do cover the whole boot - that's why they're called "over the boot". Are you thinking about the ones that just cover the ankle? Over the boot tights have hooks the connect underneath your skate.

Lay the skate boot on it's side and trace one side of the boot onto
newspaper or pattern tracing paper if you have it. be sure to allow
ample seam allowances especially if this is your first time making
these. You will have 2 pattern pieces for each boot. There will be 2
seams on each boot cover. one at center back and one at center
front. Trial fit onto boot, adjust size/pattern as needed and then
finish off with some elastic at the top edge and bottom edge. You
might want to use scrap lycra to do a trial run and fine tune. Put
the greater stretch of the lycra going around the boot.

I've done this before - it's very easy!
