Interesting Position
By FlexyTay
On Wed Dec 28, 2005 08:16 AM

I was surfing through Barny's collection and I came upon this picture. I don't know who the gymnast is, but she's obviously very flexible.

I think she's on her stomack with her hips turned up in a straddle, then she twisted around to grab the leg. I think it's really pretty, maybe not so much from this angle, though.

Tell me what you think, and if you know who the gymnast is, I'd like to know.

Happy Holidays!!

Hmm thats a very interesting position. It would be neat to see it from a different angle to see exactly what her back is doing in this. On another note maybe it might just look kinda odd to me because of the angle. very nice picture thanks

That is an interesting pose! It is taken at a really weird angle but it is still nice! Thanks for posting!

shes not on her stomach, she's layed on her back with her torso rotated... took me a while to work it out! like a high leg balance on her back but the bottom leg is rotated forward and the torso is too

i have to disagree i think she is on her stomach.. look at her hip structure and upper leg on the leg on the left side.. thats impossible if she is on her back.. but the whole position seems rather crazy

she is on her back. her pelvis is facing to the roof now unless she has no spine that cant happen without her back on the floor lol

technically she is on her side :P

Have you ever done one of those leg kicks? The ones where you have to lay down on your side and kick you leg up. Something like this: www.verdugohillshospital.org . . .

That is what she is doing only that she's pulling her leg completely over behind her and she twists her upper body a bit so she can reach over that leg with her head.

dance.net . . .
This shows it better.

You can probably also reach this position starting from your back but I think it's easier starting from the side, less mess twisting legs and bodies around ;)

When I first saw it i was confused at what she was doing, but now that I see it it looks like a backcatch on her side.

this is a normal split she gets her leg and puts it on her side thats' all but as she has such much flexibility to twist her body on her side, makes it look funny!

Very Skillful move

She is obviously a talented and extremely flexible girl :)

Although you are right, the angle is not the most attractive it is a very intresting position ;)

Love fiona

I think it if she is on her side then she must be doing something like a back split with a twist in torso. Very cool. Very talented. I like those new pictures in the last post.

If anyone is interested I can film her routines next weekend at the german nationals. I'm not sure if she has changed her starting position for hoop, but we'll see ;)
