I did a search for you. I dont know about the credibility of any of these places, so you'd have to check them out yourself, but this might help you get started :)

You might want to check out the Wellington Performing Arts Centre. I'd imagine they have a lot of information for you there.

Just a comment - the performing arts centre is a place where they have full time performing arts courses and a few random dance classes at night and on weekends. And I wouldn't say they have a lot of ballroom.

BUT there is a ballroom dancing place across the road on Vivian St you may want to pop your head into and ask them.

I would suggest just giving a place a go and then using your experience there, and at any competitions to determine the best coachs in town.

Where are you moving from? Can you ask your current teachers for any recommendations?

Also, check out danz.org.nz they have a good directory there that you can check out.

But, the best place to look I find is always the yellow pages!

Cool, thanks

Yeah, i was going to give my coach a call here so he can do some researching for me. I've heard the standard is quite high, so am looking forward to experiencing it.

Im moving from Australia, as my partners family is maori and we have just had a baby, so we thought why not! Plus our daughter gets to meet her NZ family!!

What form of dance do you get into?

I've done pretty much all types of dancing since i was 4, including highland dancing!! but mainly focused on classical. The last exam i did was my intermediate 2, but that was 10 years ago! I was pretty good, but excelled at jazz and anything a bit more showy. Plus i had always did gymnastics so i was a bit more atheletic looking that the slim type for ballet.

Eventually my mum got me into ballroom, and have become addicted to it!!!

Anyways would love to hear back from you

Another place is Danczport in Upper Hutt. They do ballet, jazz and ballroom. Other than that there is Ceroc Stars Dance Studio in Thorndon. You should be able to find some classes close to where you are going to be living. Make sure you let us know where you end up going and what it is like.
