Michelle Kwan was living across the street from me in a nice complex for awhile. I don't think she lives there anymore, but it was cool for awhile. |

^cool! Did you like stalk her? Try to meet her? I WOULD!!!!
At the moment there's a huge battle between the two Australian champions at the moment as to who's going to the 2006 winter olympics. I skate at the rink wiht one of them. It's a really big battle, so they're probably the most talked about in Australia at the moment. |

Yeah I totally wanted to meet her. The one time I saw her up close in a store I freaked out and pretty much ran away. {I know... dumb move} Of course by the time I went back, she wasn't anywhere around and I looked throughout the whole store. Oh well. I keep thinking we'll meet again someday. I did see her practicing a few times. I was trying my best not to be a complete stalker. |

Well, I live in Australia now, but I grew up in montreal. The famous people from my local were:
Charlene Wong: 1985 Quebec Ladies Senior Champion, four time Canadian Silver Medalist
Kristy Sargeant and Kris Wirtz: 1998 & 99 Canadian Senior Pairs Champions
and David Pelletier: 2002 Olympic Gold Medalist
not bad when you think about it... |

I'm from the US and I think the most famous current skater is Michelle Kwan by a mile, like others said, but other skaters that are well remembered in the United States are Peggy Fleming, Kristi Yamaguchi, Nancy Kerrigan,Dorothy Hammill Peter and Kitty Carruthers, and Scott Hamilton. They are all names that Americans commonly associate with figure skating. |

Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice lauzon
and I guess the most well known woman right now is Joannie Rochette |
