Figure Skating "Inside Egde" By Christine Brennan-Has Anybody Read It? en>fr fr>en By maureensiobhan Comments: 4214, member since Wed Dec 24, 2003On Sun Jan 08, 2006 09:33 AM
Have any of you read it? I've read that book twice. I can recommend it. It takes a look at what really goes on behind the scenes. It talks about the rigors of training, how the families often separate so the kids can train, how the parents take the kids out of school and home-school them, the expense of the costumes, skates, tuition and ice time, travel expenses to go to the competitions, etc. It also talks about how many male skaters, judges and coaches have died of AIDS and how that's very much kept hush-hush. 3 Replies to "Inside Egde" By Christine Brennan-Has Anybody Read It? |

I read it the first year it came out. Excellant book. After reading it, my hat goes off to everybody who skates, for their dedication to the sport!!! |

YAY! I'm ordering that from the library! Talk about coincidence! I just ordered it yesterday, before I even read the post! I can hardly wait now |

I've read it too! It was exciting - as Ice Skating always is. Pity though, that when it comes to real life all the competition between skaters can make things rather unplesant. |
