im gonna start track as a 9th grader, in 7th and 8th, ive done an impressive job with hurdles, i could already hurles at 39 inches then (i was 5'7), does anyone have any more hints for hurdles, small things i need to know to help me increase speed quicker, i already know all that lead leg, opp arm, trai leg stuff, but i dont know every single aspect of hurdles

- Mark out your steps before you race everytime (to prevent stutter-stepping)
- Set up 5-10 hurdles in a row,close together and step over them using both legs as if they were following
- Make sure to jump only as high as you need to (more height makes you slower)
- Lean over your leading leg when you jump
- On any bar that's at least waist high kick your legs up to it while leaning over it as if you were jumping over a hurdle
- Practice hurdling on BOTH sides so that you have more of a sense of what feels right
- Ask other hurdlers on your team to help you practice
- Don't be afraid of falling...Yes,it hurts,but when you do,you know that you're a real hurdler

I am in 9th grade too,and I have done hurdles for two years also.
