These are sooooo helpful! another thing could just be 100 basic situps each night to strengthen the core muscles to leap higher.

Another one could also be to do invisible bar... (stand up and hold your leg up as high as you can for as long as you can) strengthens you thigh muscles (quads) to help you sustain leaps longer

Wow your the best !!!! I have never had anyone explain it like that to me . I would love love love to be able to do jumps like this. I would love to be able to do jumps period. Do you know of any adults that didn't start to dance as a child that is able to do jumps. Is there any hope for me ? I'm 42 now and started to dance at 21 mostly figure not to much step, stop dancing for about 12 years and I started back 2 years ago just with step now . I practice everyday and I'm trying to get more flexable I think I've never danced better. Anyway sorry for the novel hope to hear back from you soon .Thanks again.

I remember doing a split leap once (and only once ever) and I felt as if I was 'hanging' in the air, as everyone seemed to land before me- anyway Thanks for this guide! :) Its really a big help.

That's exactly what we do!!! Your explanation was a bit hard to understand, I'll re-explain it... ( =

1. Do a skip-2-3 and raise your leg like you would going into an over-and-down

2. Raise your back leg and kick your bum

3. Hold

4. Lower your back leg that just kicked your bum and land on it

5. Bring your front leg down

Hope that helps!!

For me, if I practice holding birds, it helps me with my over-and-downs and getting more lift. Picture your over-and-down or your switch leap being a bird first, then following through with the back leg. ( =

Great post! I can't hold leaps yet (though my calf muscles are huge), so it was good to see something that tells you what to do to help with this problem.
