I'm soooo glad this thread is here!!! I've been asking for advice on how to wash stoned cossie's from other parents but have not really had any useful feedback until now.

I'm off to try the pillow case spin right now.

Thanks again

glue for stones from nevtex or trim-it or crystal clover
also just thought I'd let everyone know have sucessfully washed the ostrich fringing costume - fairy liquid on all the tan stains, persil colour in the bath shower rinse and then spun in washing machine and dried with hair dryer - beautiful - thanks for your help

Hi, Thanks for the advice. I'm a bit worried though cause Shannan's suit is velvet and has fringe on so is it still OK to wash in the bath?

Thanks

Great post! I have been wondering how I am going to wash Livvy's costumes and been a bit worried about washing her slow cossie as it is heavily stoned. I have been told to use fairy washing up liquid, not sure about this though, has anyone else used this or do you think I should stick to washing powder?

Thanks xx

The original fairy liquid is OK or we use travel wash [it comes in tubes and can be bought at most Supermarkets and Chemists and cool water both for washing and rinsing ]do not use fabric softner as this dulls the stones

My daughter has a white lycra slow suit and unfortunately the pink neon lacing has run in to it... gutted!
Any tips on getting it out? have tried dove soap as suggested previously but it hasn't worked, any help gratefully received!

Hi , I always rinse amys costumes in the sink of luke warm water with shampoo I do put a colour catcher in depends on the colour of the costume, when it is clean I then put in a pillow case and into the machine not many stones fell off but if they do there in the pillow case,I then hang up in the bath room as it is cool in there.

I made this mistake lool a few years back and my costume ended up with the colours running! However just don't wash it in hot water aha make sure you wash it in cold that is your safest bet ;) xx

Great advice and information will defiantly be using it in the future! I have washed my daughter's costumes in the washing machine using a delicate wash and the pillow case method, some stones came off but it didn't actually get the costume clean!
After asking some other parents and reading this post it will be the bath with luke warm water & star drops. To dry, roll costume in a towel then hang up!
