I always wash costumes.I wash them by hand in luke warm water, never use a biological detergent and don,t soak them but dip in and out a few times , change water the water frequentlyso as to give them a good rinse through .Stardrops is good and available in supermarkets , (usually with the washing up liquids)and really makes stones shine .Rinse in cold water and spin dry in a pillow case .

Really useful post. I always wash my daughters stoned in Luke warm water in the bath. I don't leave to soak as I worry it may damage glue. Have just brought a brand new colourful costume. I plan to use salt to fasten the colour... Fingers crossed.

Hi some really good advice here,I must admit I have hand washed in lukewarm water and machine washed, think it depends on the costume but will definitely try the star drops next time.

My mum said she use to wash hers in bath with handwash detergent and a cold rinse. She also use to hang away from sunlight to dry.
