She's flexible yes but the most flexible??? Kazakova is at least at equal level and not only Kazakova.

The thing she does with her arms ... Is it that special or difficult cause when I do it and I look in the mirror I see the same angle

easily do that too, but many people can't even get them past

And I agree about Kazakova. Have you seen the video posted
in the RG forum? It's hard to measure flexibility and I think
this girl is said to be the most flexible just because her
name is more well known. I'm sure there are plenty of gymnasts,
contortionists and yoga-people out there that can challenge her.

The competition was publicised in a site that is a Pay one so had limited publicity. There have been videos of the girl (Liu Si Yu) and she is an outstanding contortionist but you are correct about Irina; of course she gets excellent exposure.

And, about the "arm thing" being "how she is born" - you are correct. I have posted about joint hyper mobility in DN and to be able to do many contortion positions you need to be born with joint hyper mobility and then stretch. I have seen a number of professional and amateur contortionists doing shoulder "tricks" that show off various positions including dislocations.

"many people can't even get them past their ears no matter how hard they strech" is a fact, but a person born with your flexibility can exercise and achieve very impressive positions. I have shoulder flexing exercises that I give to some of my contortionist trainees.

hamfist can you post, pm or direct me towards the stretches you talk about for flexible shoulders? i can rotate my arms from front to back using a ruler about 7 or 8cm apart, but my goal is to have them completely together soon. i would love to know what you would recommend

When I was in gym training I was able to hold my hands and take my arms all the way over front to back and back again....didnt think I was too weird.....Although I do know I have hypermobile ankles(From a podiatrist) so maybe more of my joints are

It is interesting that uou guys were talking about hypermible shoulders like nothing. How does it feel to have shoulders that flexible?? I have been stretching my shoulders for two months and now I can get about 30 degree angle above my head and my shoulders feel soooo wierd... I don't know if I should continue or not. I don't know if it is really good to be like this, it feels like there is nothing to support my shoulder joints anymore. I used to put my hand against a wall and press my chest towards the wall, this is the exercise I use.

Honestly it did feel like anything major. They were just like that! (and this was 15odd years ago lol)

My gym coaches loved it, I thought it was a great party trick but I cant actually remember doing any specific exercises to do this. I know when I did take my arms right over that they got to a certain point and just 'clicked' and kept going. Thats the only way to describe it. It didnt hurt at all, if I wasnt warmed up they would just get to a point and wouldnt do the 'click' bit lol. Its hard to explain.

i wouldn't say that's she's the most flexible in the world...i mean soooo many RG are very flexible...and same with dancers and ballerina's!!!....i mean flexability isn't all about how far you can put your arms!!!

That position is not very difficult, a lot of normal people can do that. And there are much much more flexible girls in RG than this girl. Btw, flexibility is not measured by how far your arms could go
