Hi! I am going to be trying out for my high school's dance team for next year this coming March (i will be an incoming freshman) and in tryouts we have to be able to do 8 consecutiive fouettes and 8 consecutive a la seconde turns. I have never learned either of them, so i was wondering if you guys could help me with tips and anything else. Thanks so much!

Check the Jazz boards. There's a bunch of threads about these turns with tons of tips. Just browse around and check other pages too.

But my best advice to you is to find a teacher or a coach or a current team member to help you. It'd be extremely difficult for you to learn fouettes just by reading text online. You NEED someone to look at you to tell you what you are doing wrong.

I would also check the ballet boards for fouette. but you should really have someone help you with that in person.

Yeah, you do need to get someone to watch you. Don't get fustrated...it might seem hard at first. But you'll get it.
