Did anyone see him skate? He has just become my favorite male skater still competing! He has 9 of the top 15 scores on the new system. And now at the Olympics he has a ten point lead over Johnny Weir who is in second. He's amazing! 20 Replies to Plushenko |

Yowzers! Plushenko delivered in the short. His jumps were ON and his footwork was bananas! If he skates that well in the free he will be untouchable. Seriously untouchable.
Look out men... |

I thought he was great in the past, but he really did a fabulous job at the big event. I can't wait to see his long program. |

Was glad to have such an interesting mens competition. the variety of spins and footwork was nice to watch. |

The men's long program is tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Best of luck to Evgeny Plushenko and all of the other men. |

I have never been a big fan of Plushenko - you can't knock his skating but I really don't like his attitude. To me he comes across as arrogant...
Just my opinion, maybe because I was a big Yagudin fan during their rivalry last olympics? |

No one can catch him now he even mad ea personal best in doing so
Good Luck to him in the future what ever he decides to do
Re KristenDances ...he is far from being arrogant an certainly does not deserve being called it

I watched his long program last night. The commentators said, "But was it a program?" because all he did was jumps, then some arms, then jumps. They said the program one of the other skaters (I can't remember if it was Stephan Lambiel or Matt Savoie) did was actually more difficult than Plushenko's, because he did more intricate footwork and spins than Plushenko did. Don't get me wrong, I thought Evgeny skated beautifully, but I have to agree with the commentators. |

Where did you hear that because of the different ones I saw they all said superb way in front of anything else
But anyway the elements etc have to be done and done correctly now a days [on the new marking system]to get the marks no more getting marks for under rotated jumps etc
That is where the differences came last night a lot of skaters lost marks for under rotation and no running edges
Also it was more than just jumps etc the choreography and hoew it was done was just a dream so very much a programme in fact a story

I've seen him skate better. I thought Evan Lysacek had a far better performance but...he was just so far out of it. Yes, technically Plushenko is good, but his choreography IS just jump, arms, jump combo, arms, spin, arms, footwork, arms etc. It's just so segmented...and aside from that his passion just wasn't there last night. He went through the technical motions to win the gold but his performance wasn't memorable to me. |

I really enjoy watching Plushy skate, and I always have. His short program was close to flawless in my opinion, but I think he could have done better in the long. I was also really dissapointed in Johnny Weir. I thought that he would at least medal, but I know he probably feels terrible...but i just seems like these olympics arent off to a good start for the US. |

i never said he was arrogant just that he seems to come across that way
he is a good skater but he knows it
sorry that's just my opinion...i did not mean for it to be taken badly |

I thought his programme was jump after jump too. Regards his 'lack of passion' that night, could it be due to pressure/nerves etc? Perhaps.
I read on the torino site about how he changed coach and felt 2nd rate next to alexi yaggudin, being under the same coach. I guess with two super skaters being under the same coach there is abound to be some rivalry or whatever you call it. Just didn't like the sound of it. Especially since im a yaggudin fan. |

I liked Pushenko's long program too.
I totally thought that Evan Lysacek had a better performance and after being sick with the flu the day before. That's amazing. I was really hoping he'd hold out for the bronze. it's a shame about his fourth. |

I liked Plushenko's music, but I felt that there was no performance aspect. If I'd watched it on mute, it could have been a practice session!
By the way- Does anybody know what that music was anyway? |
