HEy! I take ballet and I really like to watch ice skating and try to skate once everyyear at the most sicne i live in florida. ANYWAY! In dance you have to practice SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO much to get everything perfect. I know that you MUST have to practice figure skating soo much to do all the moves(?) down. So, i was just wondring do you guys practice like everyday? Also I've been watching the Olympics and WOW! I would never be able to do any of those things on ice. I'm amazed if i leave the wall and go aroud the ice without falling once or twice. 9 Replies to From a dancer |

I skate 4 times a week, and for about 12 hours a week. But you can skate everyday if you are willing to, and have enough money. |

I skate five days a week for an hour and a half at a time. Some competitive skaters practice three hours a day, six days a week! |

I'm an old fart so I work full time and go to school but I manage to squeek in 3 days a week for a total of about 6-7 hours. I'd like to skate more, but until my old rink reopens I don't see that happening.
Incidentally I live in Florida too - so thats no excuse for not going more often |

I practice a lousy 2 times a week, which is a great improvement from my once a week practice!
I'm still in school and my school is from 8-5pm, and sometimes till 7pm. Hope i can get abit more practice during my study break.
During competition season, I practice up to 4 times a week. I find that 2xweekly sessions on empty ice is much better than 4x on really crowded ice anyway.
Go skate! I'm sure you will have fun too |

molliemoiluvnycb - you should try to get your hands on ice diaries! short miniseries following the lives of 4 young, serious skaters, on their way to the nationals last year.
it shows how much effort and work goes into the life of a full-time skater. those girls are elite atheletes, and most of us here don't really match up to their skills and training levels
we still skate lots though! |

I only started skating in October, so I'm not really that good yet, but I'm only 14 and the nearest arena is 45 minutes away. So I can only skate once a week for a half hour during my class, and sometimes my parents let me go to open skate for 2 hours. But they don't like to drive that far every day, you know? |

I am 14 years old and live in Australia. My rink is 45 min away.
The most I have practised is 6 hours for synchro they 2-3 hours singles every day.
I was always so tired
