I have some question about the roofing material. Did you use a TPO which is a thermoplastic polyolefin roofing membrane? It is 45 mils thick. Or what exactly is the PVC roofing? I am getting a little confused. Thanks for your help.

I, too, noticed that the shower liner is really sticky. I can hardly turn at all on it. Does anyone know how to make a floor stickier?

I have TimeStep studio flooring and Marley that need a new studio home! Anyone know of a studio needing exceptional flooring at a great deal?! I closed my studio of 6 years due to health problems and need to unload this flooring, let alone pay for medical bills.
Thanks!

I am building my own, but not finished yet, looking at several ballet flooring website, the material is foam, fiber, and pvc vinyl covering, so:
1. I buy some puzzle foam, like for the children room, attach it together, put some tape,
2. and I am going to glue the foams to the fiber, or you can use plywood
3. cover it with some glue to pvc vinyl covering, or marley type covering
It's your dance floor.

Has anyone ever tried this? Planning to buy foam puzzle squares but spread them out (slight gaps) then lay plywood down, and then Timestep on top of that. Is this good enough or is this unsafe? I only plan to stay at this location for a max. of 3 years. It would save almost $1,000 on the sprung floor!! Any thoughts?

For people in Australia, bunnings has wooden panels to use under the basement. And the puzzle foamy pieces are at Kmart, BigW and Bunnings

A friend used the Bunnings basement panels with veneer on top. He puts wax on it every month to keep the surface smooth - for a ballroom dance floor.

Hi- I am working on opening a studio and am looking into buying a floor. The space currently has a concrete floor and I know I need to put down some sort of sub floor. Has anyone used or looked into buying the floors that have the subfloor built into them? Looking for ideas. THANKS

I went to Lowes today and found the roll. A full roll is 5'X40'. That's about 200 sq feet. Each linear foot is $5.93. A full roll is about $237 (before taxes). This was in Detroit, MI. I bought 1 foot and tapped on it. It's pretty comparable to Harlequins "reversible" floor.

I have 448 sq feet to cover and currently Harlequin has remnants for sale for 50% off. For what I need to cover my floor, they quoted me $750. If I bought 2 rolls of the shower liner, it would cost $503 (incl MI tax). So for about $250 more, I can have the "professional" Harlequin floor. Since Harlequin has a sale going on, I think I'll pay the extra $250. Plus, Harlequin has warranties on their product for 5 years. So I think in the long run, the extra $250 that I'll pay will save me in the long run.

BUT..... if it was between buying the shower liner or paying FULL PRICE for a Harlequin floor...... shower liner all the way!

so I have a studio that has Vinyl composite tile and we are liiking to improve our floor system. The problem is that our floor is sooooo uneven that I am afraid of spending the money on a sub floor that will bend or break. I am thinking that we will have to build a floor underneath the sprung floor to balance it all out. What is the best way to install the sub floor??? i've looked at every option and now I am just confused. We are then laying down the PVC floor, I think??? We are on a budget and will be moving next year to two rooms so I need something that we can take with us.

Any thoughts???

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks for this post, I know it is a bit old but I just found it while doing research for our new studio that is currently under construction.

After a few years of dancing on the roofing material, how has it worn? I am seriously considering using this for a new studio that will be used by pre-professional and adult students (primarily ballet, modern and jazz classes). It will be laid over a subfloor like yours, but I am concerned with its longevity and if it becomes slippery or sticky over time. Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer!
