props, props and more props. I personally think this age should include parents, but that is my opinion.
I like using scarves, hula hoops, bean bags.
Keep the class short and always moving.
Hope these ideas help, let me know if you want/need more info. |

Yes, I definitely agree with fountainarts on the idea of props! Always, keep their mind focused on objects, or something visual. Keep their bodies moving...
One thing I have done before, if you have this resource available, is include gymnastic mats for a little warm up. Depending on how long your class is...it's fun for them and it helps them become/stay flexible. You can do so many things on the mats with them!
Good luck and keep movin'! |

I agree on the props too. Collect dollar store type toys and keep them in labled bins on a shelf and pull one out each class. Make sure to revisit them often so the shildren can elaborate on ideas.
Some class themes could include
-princess/prince day (tiaras/crowns)
-flower day (watering cans) have the kids grow like flowers
-fairy day (wands or wings)
-Squish day (koosh balls)..my teacher used to tell us when we were little and were doing plies, to squish the koosh ball inbetween our knees when we pull up from a plie, and also to press our heels down like we were squashing an orange when we lowered from rises
hope i helped |
