okay so i know this is coaches only but i needed coaches advice. I am a gymnast. Well we were at practice and on floor. We were showing everyone our hardest back pass into resi and our hardest front twist on tumble track. When the person was done we were giving high fives and doing that bridge thing where two people hold up their hands and a person runs through. We were having fun, just messing around a little. This girl kaite was up and finished her front twist and was like "where's my tower" she was just kidding around and wasnt mad or anything. But i sarcastically said "we dont want to make one for you katie" i was just kidding. but my coach flipped out she was like, "leave, go in the club house and stay there until you can have a good attitude!!" (i am usually a really good kid at practice, i mean i can get yelled at every once in a while, but not like that) so i was sitting in the club house waiting for christie (coach) to come in. when she finally did she was really mad and yelling about how i can never talk like that again even if i am just kidding because it hurts peoples feelings.. okay so i know thats true but katie was not even mad at all! we always joke around like that.. i am just really confused about why, all the sudden my coach started getting mad like that...

sorry if this is a dumb post.
thanks for the help

Thats not a dumb post. don't you hate it when coaches and teachers do stuff like that? (I'm not a coach, just a dancer) She must not have much of a sense of humor!
Love,

I'm not a gym coach, but i've taught dance and coach both pom and cheer teams.

I guess i might get mad at your comment if it was hurtful, but i can't see that it was, Although i wasn't there and can't judge. Maybe your coach had a bad day, and didn't want to put up with playing around? or maybe is trying to nip in the bud some behavioral problems they are having? It might not be you she's after but is making an example of you for the other less well behaved kids?

I'm not sure, but the best advice i can give is to apologise to both your coach and this "katie" for your comment. Include the statement that you weren't thinking about hurting anyone's feeling's or something like that. Generally this will make the problem easier to deal with.

Good luck
