Nice, Where's Attitude Ballet studio anyway? By the way ballet4life, I saw some of your posts in the other forums, are you pre-professional? I noted you mentioning that your dream was to be a dancer... I thought it was really cool.

Hello! I'm slightly newish to this board so it's nice for an introduction!
Name:Nicole
Age:21
Gender:F
Number and Type of dance classes taken: 2, Ballet and Flamenco, but we do Jazz and Modern as well, actually perform it is more likely.
Name of teachers: Jennie Ng(Ballet), Ping Ping(Flamenco)
Name of studio/place: Le Grand School of Dance (located at Tampines)
Level or Grade of Class:Intermediate CSTD
How long have you been dancing?:17 Years
Favorite type of dance you take: Ballet
Favorite type of dance you watch: I'll usually watch any type of dance except contemporary, this depends.
Been dancing for a really long time, but due to some past injuries and what not, most of it has been uphill climb, regaining back strength and flexibility. Still I'm no great shakes at the latter but I'm working real hard. I really do love dance, hip hop, jazz, ballet, throw it at me and I'll work hard. BUT I've had no aspirations to be professional, I just LOVE it as it is. I do it for myself, it's a passion, but this is one passion that won't take me to the professional stage, hopefully it might in other areas in the performing arts industry. I'd rather sing truthfully. Currently waiting for uni and working and trying to get in dance and vocal lessons at the same time. Hah. Busy Busy. Let me see, oh I have BAD BAD feet, so I don't know what I'm going to do if I can't get anymore Gambas. Woe is me.
You can visit me at my LJ: blazefury.livejournal.com
If you want to get me on MSN just PM me!
And great! More male dancers, welcome bubblebran! I'll talk to you don't worry. Haha. Nice to meet the rest of you too!

Whoa. I dare not dream to be one... But i really want to be a professional dancer. So i'm planning for my future education in dance. yeps. I'm not exactly good you know? There are a few here who are very talented. Yups. Guys can be professional easily if you've got your stuff. yeps. You just need a few years of intense training and you're there! Take Jeffrey Tan of SDT as an example. So don't stop aspiring!

ahh of course I'll never stop aspiring... yea when I found out about Jeffrey Tan, I was very encouraged. I thought it was quite unrealistic for me, but suddenly theres hope!!! Whee
But the sad thing is SDT has many overseas dancer... even though the competition for male ballet in singapore isn't very high... they take so many overseas dancers =( becomes very hard...

Number and Type of dance classes taken: 1, Adult Ballet
Name of teachers: Antony Tay
Name of studio/place: Dance Arts
Level or Grade of Class: Beginners.

Anything else you would like to share about you as a dancer? (Practically anything you want to say, your passion for it, your unique dancewear, brand of shoe etc etc, anything at all.)
I want to do pointe! I want to look graceful! I want to dance!
Er...but sadly due to my crazy schedule which will only get crazier, it's highly unlikely i'll every get to slip my ugly, un-pointable feet into a pair of Bloches or Freeds. *sob*
And yeah, I really regret quitting ballet. Then again, it wasn't my choice. Lol.

Anything else you would like to share about you as a dancer? (Practically anything you want to say, your passion for it, your unique dancewear, brand of shoe etc etc, anything at all.)
I think I'm really fortunate to be in the UK cos there's good opportunity for exposure to dance. Of course S'pore is not bad too. Well I'm really old to be starting out dancing but I still dream of performing one day! Need not be professional but still, at least performing on stage instead of always dancing in a class. If possible I want to do a diploma! Haha. I've got lots of passion n i'm really pushing myself in this aspect but I feel that dancing is something I want to do my whole life! I enjoy both jazz and ballet. I used to swim but didn't like it much. Stuff I want to try are rockwall climbing, freestyle skating and ice skating. I also LURVE skiing!

Woah... I think you're really lucky to be in the UK! No worries about performance, you'll get to do some someday, there are many performances that are not professional
Just curious, you've got time to do Uni and take 3 classes a week? wow, isn't it quite tough?

yeah my schedule is quite tight as a result. also becos i've got 9-5 day on thurs n ballet at night, n always have major report/project/deadline/test/watever on fri, it kind of sucks. But besides that the other classes are on weekend so it's ok. Being in uk is fun but it's really exp! Btw i'll be going back to s'pore over july period so maybe it'll be nice to meet up with some of u if u guys are keen. If not no worries! I'll prob bump into some of u anyway cos i'll prob do dance classes over the summer. Can't live without dancing!

ya i'm quite lucky to be taking class there! the classes are 8 pounds(=$24) which are not too exp considering the teaching is really really good. What i learn in 1 class at RAD is more than what i normally do in 1 month at my uni! But no complains about the classes at my uni,cos it's only 1 pounds($3) per class. Classes have stopped becos it's the easter break, but i'm taking open jazz classes somewhere else 3 times a week, sometimes 2 classes each time. That place's exp but I don't mind becos I just have to dance. Like a little addicted if u know what i mean. haha u guys must think i'm crazy now.

Haha. Bubblebran, the reason why SDT take in so many foreign dancers is because of the shortage of male dancers in S'pore. Line in SDT, there are only 2 S'porean male dancers, which is really sad. Even those guys who dance locally and are good, are foreigners epspecially from China. China produces many good dancers, both male and female alike. So yeps. just work hard! jia you!

Oh i was having problems with pirouettes too not too long ago. Hope this will help. First u must practise ur balance in retire position. If u can do this already, the trick is the spotting! Your spot will get u round. Oh, n don't forget to really plie before u turn,i always forget this. Finally just keep practising! like what i'm trying to do right now cos i'm still bad at it haha. Yup hope this helps!!

zesty, you mean per class will be around $24? if it is so, to me, it will be expensive!
but anyway, it worth the price. its RAD school!
pirouette requires lots of practices. make sure your standing leg is pulled up. or rather "drilled" your standing leg into the ground. then spin. try the spinning first. once you are comfortable with it. then spot!
good luck.
