our coach has everyone start out like this:
Bases:
~stand with their feet shoulder width apart (stronger in that stance).
~hands are holding each other's wrists "lightly" not squeezing, and their arms NOT locked straight- it should be loose.
~should be looking at each other (like in all stunts).
~keep back straight and bottom tucked under
Flyer:
~Stand up straight
~hands on shoulders
~elbows pointed up to the ceiling (NOT to the floor)
Back Spot:
~begin on the flyers waist
Front Spot:
~put your hands, one on top of the other, under the basket
~normally only one foot can go near the stunt and the other is further away, like a lunge stretch (strong leg nearest to the stunt)
LOADING IN:
Bases:
~dip a little to your counts to load in (counts: 1 & 3/4)
~keep back straight and stance the same as in the beginning
~after your throw (straighten your arms)flick your hands/fingers at the top
~think as if you are jumping off the ground so that you use your legs, it'll give alot more power (legs are stronger than arms)
~keep your arms over your head in prepration for the catch
~step in towards each other like any other cradle and catch HIGH
Flyer:
~good counts to go in on: set 5, 6, 7, 8, bend knees 1, hop up into basket 2, dip on 3, straighten arms & shrug your shoulders 4, straighten your whole body, breathe in, keep arms straight to your sides and hollow your rib cavity 5, ride to the peak, then hit right before you start coming back down...
~only the ball of her feet should be on the bases hands.
~loading in there shouldnt be any weight put on the bases hands. ~holding her own weight on the bases shoulders.
~thighs should be parallel to the ground.
~dont forget to shrug your shoulders as you straighten your arms, this gives a little extra height. (my bases tend to forget this part as you can see)
Back Spot:
~move from the waist to the bottom or ankles, try both and see which makes the stunt go higher.
~after the throw keep arms extended so that you are ready for the flyer to come down. (my backspot tends to forget this as you can see!)
Front Spot:
~dip with the group (1 & 3/4)
~help by giving some straight up push, never push the stunt through your wrists-that will cause the stunt to go backwards (give even pressure from your whole hands)
~completely extend your arms for the most "umph"
~once you see the flyer do the trick and she starts to come back down, step to the left or the right and help "catch" her feet. it doesnt really need the help catching, it just looks cleaner than the front spot running away!
I hope that helps...if you want help for the flyer with her tricks, just let me know
