A mother called my dance teacher eariler this week and hired a dancer to come "teach" for one hour at a preschooler's birthday party. That dancer is me! And I get paid a heck of a lot of money to do it. Has anyone ever done something like this before. It's for ballet.
It's an hour long for preshcoolers. I have already planned on brining my dance schoes, so I can explain what they are all for. I've helped teach a preschool class at my studio so I am going to do everything we do there.
But because the class I helped teach was like...a half hour long, and I have to prepare for more than one hour (because little kids go through material like *that*), I need more ideas.
And I think I am going to wear pink tights and a leotard. Does that sound okay? I was thinking about taking some pictures of me in my tutu to show.
Give me a bunch of ideas. What are some ballet based games we could do?
Ooh..jsut thought of something else. What special thing could I do for the birthday girl? 1 Replies to Birthday Party |

I don't know which things you already have on your list, but here are some ideas....
do your regular stretching activities -- butterflies etc, what color do you want to be or hwere would you fly to.
To stretch arms & torso, I do a game of being the mommy lion, waking up the baby lion cubs, than wave my magic wand and turn them into various animals for creative movement.
Maybe for the bday girl, she could have magic wand too and help with that. Or -- so the others aren't crished, everybody gets to take turns, but she goes first. Could do something with a tutu or skirt for her to wear first.
If they are okay with dance related activities also, you could have them all decorate a crown cut out from poster board -- bring jewels, etc. Do this first and then do activities, teach them a little dance. Then they can wear the crown (and maybe a skirt made of elastic or a belt and strips of crepe paper) to perform the dance when the mommies come back.
Hope this helps! |
