Hey there, I just read your post after being away from the site for many months. I had to laugh, because I am the same - a tapper at heart (hence the nickname). I am desperately trying to instill the love of tap in the hearts of all the little ones I teach (ages 2 to about 10). Yes, ballet is more popularly seen in mainstream, but I think it's really important to develop core structure in ballet even though tap is my favorite. I find that everything revolves in some way around ballet, whether it's the flow of things, the gracefulness, discipline, or a combination of all of these plus, I'm not really sure, but I think if you don't have that root in ballet, you can't move forward too well in tap. Just my theory! Good luck to you in your new school. Monique
