Backstage goody bags for recital - need ideas

I am planning to put together two small backstage goody bags for my 9 yr old daughter and her 14 yr old "big sister" at the studio. I'd like to avoid a bunch of candy and keep it at or under about $15 per bag. Anyone done this in the past and have any ideas? I just want a little something to surprise them with back stage and maybe things they could enjoy/use between numbers.

thanks for your help!

Well, I guess you should start by asking the dance teacher if there are any forbidden items, like gum, etc. and then exclude those items right away.

Some suggestions -
A small notebook and some colored pens/pencils.
Make a little memory book that their friends can sign.
Cans of glitter spray or bottles of 'fairy dust' are fun.
Maybe some mints.
Inexpensive sunglasses.
A dance themed bracelet.
You could make a coupon on your computer for an ice cream cone, game of miniature golf, a movie or other special treat (redeemed at your discretion).

And, of course, a special note from mom saying how proud you are and how much you love them.

We always do something fun, but also include a little snack pack (lunchbox size) of a snack like golfish, cheezits, etc and a bottle of water. Something easy and not messy to snack on between dances.

-NOT A PARENT- Mods delete if need be.

How about something useful for dance, that they might need and have forgotten for the performance?

-Hand held compact mirror
-Little hair brush
-Bobby pins
-Baby wipes (always ALWAYS useful backstage)
-A healthy drink like a smoothie
-Healthy snacks like dried fruit or nuts (if nuts are chosen, check no kids are allergic)
-Bed socks-the big fluffy ones with grip on the bottom to wear over shoes
-Diary to record memories

Obviously all of that would be big money, but its some ideas to get you started

This is cute and inexpensive. place the underlined items in a gift bag with the poem.

A roll of SMARTIES cause you're so bright
When you need a boost just take a bite.
A SCRUNCHIE for when a practice gets hairy
Some LIFESAVERS in case your teacher is scary
To bring you good luck, a four LEAF CLOVER
an ERASER to say it's okay to start over
a shiny GOLD STAR for acing a step
a COIN to toss when you just have to guess
a SUCKER for steps that must be licked
and a STAMP to remind you -
we're family and our friendship will stick.
