Yay! First post on the wedding board! I thought it'd be cool to start a mini-profile let's-get-to-know-each-other type of post! Feel free to fill in even if you're not getting married just yet!

- Name:
- Age (optional!):
- Date of engagement:
- Date of wedding:
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc):
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen:
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?)
-The gown: Details or picture

I'll go first

- Name: Jenn
- Age (optional!): 21
- Date of engagement: Dec 22 2004
- Date of wedding: Dec 2 2005
- Location: We did city hall because we originally didn't plan to get married until 2007 so our planning was a little rushed because we decided to apply for my greencard. We're thinking of having a bigger more formal wedding soon.
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: 1 of each
- Your wedding style: Informal and intimate. We only had immediate family present at our very brief ceremony which was followed by a nice dinner in a posh restaurant. We did have a US joins British theme though. Hopefully we'll have the 'fairytale' wedding at some point in the future.
- The gown: Again, done at the last minute. I had a white, empire waist gown from David's Bridal (the last place I thought I'd buy a gown!). It was very simple but I fell in love with it straight away. It's a plus-size gown but it was very flattering. Sorry the pic is so blurry!

I love new boards! How exciting! :D

Anyway....

- Name: Brooke (pretty obvious) :)
- Age (optional!): 24
- Date of engagement: February 14th, 2006
- Date of wedding: Unsure... planning will be given more thought this summer. We will probably plan the wedding sometime next year, maybe in May.
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc): Definitely a church, although neither of us are super religious. I have a few ideas in mind for the reception.
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: Somewhere between 8 and 12 is what we're thinking right now.
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?) Formal for sure.
-The gown: I will post pictures later when I gather them all. I've looked at quite a few and have an idea of what I want. But it's one of those things where no matter what dresses you love when you see pictures, you just know which one is "the one" once you are actually trying dresses on. I have awhile to go before I can go dress shopping because I am having a baby in ONE week (YAY!) and have to get back down to my normal size first.

By the way, the picture above is the engagement ring. I can't even wear it because my fingers are so swollen from pregnancy right now, but it's beautiful!

- Name: Louise
- Age (optional!): 20
- Date of engagement: Well, we sort of know we will. But I don't want to be asked until we can afford it, so he'll ask sometime over a year before we actually want to do it.
- Date of wedding: I have a thing about the 26th or 28th of June. October would be nice too.
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc): Wedding in a Catholic church, reception in a stately home or fancy-ass old hotel.
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: I want a small army. Tom's niece, my sister, as many friends as I can muster. Not sure about Tom, depends how many best men he's having. LOL - you couldn't choose between his two brothers and his brother in law.
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?) I have plenty of ideas, but I hate the idea of leaving out the groom as so many brides I know have done. It's not all about you girls ;)
-The gown: Details or picture.
It'll be a boring off-white strapless/bandeau number. But with a chiffon type overlay, and embroidery, and ribbon and stuff. I have pictures but they're stuck in a book, not on the internet, lol. Bridesmaids in black, and the flowers and such (and the boys ties/cravats) will be orangey-gold.

Yay for a wedding board!

- Name: Rachel
- Age (optional!): 22
- Date of engagement: 4/9/04
- Date of wedding: 9/9/06 (our 4 year anniversary)
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc): At a banquet hall, ceremony outside in the gazebo and reception inside
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: 3 of each
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?) Relatively informal, sort of early afternoon and laid back with a buffet lunch/dinner
-The gown: White, strapless A-line satin with little pink and blue flowers embroidered on the bodice and in certain parts of the skirt. It's meant to be floor length with a bit of a train but we're pulling the length up a bit, so it'll be around ankle length with just a sweep train. I originally wanted very informal and tea-length, so it was a shock that I fell in love with this dress. It was also on my very first shopping trip on September 9th of last year--I thought the one-year mark was a good time for a first trip, and figured I'd be shopping a lot because I had such a specific idea of what I wanted! Nope, lol.

What a great forum!!

Name: Barbara
- Age (optional!): 26
- Date of engagement: October 27th 2004
- Date of wedding: It was planned for June 24th 2006, but we had to cancel and rescedule...the new date is July 7th 2007
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc):
In a catholic church, St-Michel de Sillery. The church is built on the top of a cliff and the view from there is awesome, you can see the beautiful St-Lawrence River. This church is in my parents parish (which used to be mine), it is really special to get married there for me. I did all my school years in the school just behind, it will be a magic place to get married!

- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: 2/2 (only) We have a small wedding!
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?)

Our reception will be there (I couldn't find a summer pict!)

Image hotlink - 'http://www.sepaq.com/Photos/J380/DUCAuberge.jpg'

There will be around 80 guests for dinner and 100 for the party afterwards.
It will be quite formal with a "champêtre" theme, I am not sure how to qualify that in English...country-style. The Auberge is so pretty, it near a beautiful lake, we will take our pictures there.
We are preparing a little showcase for our guests, my fiancé and I are competiting in ballroom (internation latin) dancing. Most of our familly (we have big ones) never saw us dancing ( some don't even know we are dancing). I bought a white latin costume to wear for that special day (and I am using it now as my competition costume).

-The gown:
I don't want to put a picture of my dress until I am married! But it is a white gown, with an empire waist and spaghetti straps. There is a small train. It is a very simple dress. My veil is awesome, it has some perls and lace on the edges. I will wear a small tiara as well but just for the reception I think, I will remove the veil for the evening.
My bridesmaids have lilac dresses, they are both really pretty in thoses dresses!

I can't wait!!!

Name: Maria Louise AKA smileywoman married to Danny

Age: I was 42 at the time of my second wedding…I found true love at 38 years of age! :D

Date of engagement: Engaged Christmas Eve 2001.

Date of wedding: May 25, 2002.

Location: Lutheran Church where we attend every Sunday was the setting for the wedding. The reception was at a local hotel.

Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: We had one Matron of Honor and one Best Man.

Your wedding style: Formal church wedding. 50 People.

The gown: A recreation that I did from one of the gowns that I received into my resale inventory that was damaged…

This 100 % silk wedding gown had a mysterious stain. . . .
Image hotlink - 'http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/smileywoman/Our%20Wedding/gown146s.jpg'
I hoped the gown could be saved by dry cleaning, but there was no guarantee that the $100 the local cleaners would charge me would be successful. The spot would most assuredly remain. I loved this gown and thought it was worth saving. It was my size so I wistfully tried it on with my biggest crinoline skirt. Wow! It was like a gown Princess Grace would wear, and COMFORTABLE! (wedding gowns are often HOT to wear with all that material). I had to find a way to save this gown. . . . I had narrowed 'THE GOWN' search for own wedding, down to three gowns. Now, I knew this 'misfit' gown was THE ONE.

I home dry cleaned the stain after a thorough scrubbing of the spot. I tried draping various material as a sheer overlay on the skirt. . . . no doing. Finally, I remembered another expensive gown under renovation and the awesome flower arrangements I had recreated to potentially use on that gown. I decided to make a French bustle, because I wanted a gown that looked like I had stepped out of another era!

It cost enough ($1500) but it was well worth it!!! I got in 1998 and the style was from 1996. We had a bit of a fiasco with the ordering. When my dress came in, it was white and not silk, but satin. It was not my dress. They had to reorder it and it finally came in. My mum added additional beads to it so it was quite beautiful. I love silk shantung, cant picture a real wedding gown without that fabric :)

- Date of wedding: 29th April 2006
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc): In a stately home/hotel in Ascot berks
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: 2 flower girls of 2 1/2, 2 adults (my siter and friend) and 8 grooms men (most being my young cousins they looked adorable!)
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?) Bit of both really, me getting drunk at the end was not very formal!
-The gown: Details or picture
Oh my gown how very depressing that I can never (publicly!) wear it again. It was from the Oleg Cassini bridal range, Marilyn. A compleatly encrusted bodice top with a tulle skirt of about 30 layers. I felt like a princess!

I'm not engaged, and have never really been one to put too much time into thinking about my future wedding, untill recently lol.

- Name: Jenna

- Date of engagement: Not engaged

- Date of wedding: Unknown, I think I would like a late spring wedding - maybe I should just be thinking about the engagement first haha.

- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc): I think I would like the ceremony to be out side (gardens / gazebo etc)and have the reception somewhere where tables could be set up inside with the dance floor, but there would be a nice area outside as well.

- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: Oh, I really want a small wedding - so maybe one of each? at the very max 3.

- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?) Somewhere in between - nothing too fancy, as I would like to do it kinda low-budget.

-The gown: Something simple and elegant, I dont want anything super puffy or princessy (budget :))

I would love to have a tropical beach wedding - but would hate to have to ask people to fly somewhere - but then again I know my parents would be in for sure (any excuse to go omewhere tropical lol). That will just be my fantasy wedding *dozes off into day dream*

Its great to see pics of everyones special day, and to hear plans!

- Date of engagement: 17 Dec 2005. Beautiful snowy setting in Amsterdam - it was our last day of living there for 1.5 years.

- Date of wedding: 29 Oct 2006 (a Sunday in Spring)

- Location: Royal Botanic Gardens followed by a reception in a restaurant/mansion

- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: 2 of each

- Your wedding style: Modern vintage if that means anything, intimate, a little bit quirky (we're having cupcakes instead of normal wedding cake, head table in the centre, a jazz/swing band, lanterns, chocolate coloured decorations and envelopes, vintage-style jewelry)

-The gown: Would never have chosen it but the bridal consultant made me try it on and I loved it. No flowers or sequins or puffy sleaves but it has lace and it's a bit romantic without being sappy. And it's ivory, I think it suits me better than white. And it's very flattering (PS this is not me!):

- Name: Celine
- Age : 19
- Date of engagement: December 23, 2005
- Date of wedding: October 7, 2006
- Location (church?other religious building?city hall?boat?park? etc): The wedding will be at my parish church and we are having the reception at a really nice hall in the country which is just gorgeous.
- Number of bridesmaids/groomsmen: 4 girls and 4 guys
- Your wedding style (formal? informal? your own unique touches?)
I suppose it would be formal since its definatly not informal. The girls are in lavender. The wedding will be in the early afternoon and then a sit down dinner and dancing in the evening...party all night!
-The gown: Details or picture i love my dress. It is ivory and strapless. The bodice has lots of embroidery with little pearls sewn on and the skirt is made of tafetta the has the "pickup" look. Here is a picture(its not me)
