Hey, I just have a question, if anyone can help me. I'm working front tuck dismounts off of beam, but I can't seem to get it. I land of my feet, but I'm not open yet, so I come crashing down on my feet and stretching out my achilles. I'm afraid I might injure it if I can't get it son. Any advice?

Also, while working on front tuck from a spring board to bring it to the beam, I hyper extended my knee on the landing. It's not the first time it happend. My coach says I kicked out and that I shouldn't do that. I kind of know what she means, but I'm not sure how to stop it from happening. If anyone here knows what I mean or has the same problem, could you give me a few tips?

Thanks!

You need to kick out or you will land on your butt.

can you do front tucks on the floor? you need to be able to do it properly on the floor before it can look good off a beam. Make sure that you are focussing on going up eventhough you are doing it off a higher surface. some people have a tendency to forget this part since they are already higher up.

I would suggest stacking a bunch of mats in the dismount area of the beam. either making them level or slightly higher than the beam itself . Then work on landing your front tucks on your feet on the mats. Then when you do them as a dismout you should be getting the hight you need to land them properly.

However if the problem is that you don't know when to open from your tuck its just a matter of doing them more so that you can figure out where you are in the air.

Try doing them and hold your knee's through the whole thing even while you land.If you are holding yours knees then you cant open up too early.then as you slowly get it then start to let go a little sooner until u have tthe right timeing.

I dont really agree w/ RileyA. Still to this day i cannot do a single front tuck on floor, yet i cant do it out of a front handspring flyspring.its just one of those things i cant do no matter how much ive tried.

good luck :D
