What do you wear for Pom? en>fr fr>en By UberGoober Comments: 5116, member since Sat May 15, 2004On Thu Jun 22, 2006 08:02 PM
Which do you personally like better? Which do you think looks best in a competition?
We've worn both in years past. I prefer the traditional pom uniform or something similar. I like the clean lines and it keeps your arms looking clean. Too much fabric, costumes pieces, random stuff, etc. draws away from the sharp movements that characterize pom. 13 Replies to What do you wear for Pom? |

We wear our dance team uniform, which is a leotard and jazz pants. For comperition we'll add on different hair accessories, or a sash. |

we wear dresses...in the midwest hardly any teams wear the skirt and shell (thats for the cheerleaders!) lol during football season for halftime and pregame we wear unitarts (like with velvet and stuff) because it's colder etc. pm me if you wanna know more |

^Our pom uniforms (traditional ones) have long sleeves, which is nice for the cold. It's not really a big deal to me, as you only perform for a max 3 minutes, then you can dive back under the blankets. There was one time, where we were allowed to wear our warmup jackets on top for a football game performance, but it was like less than ) degrees Fahrenheit...Brrrr!
I live in the midwestern United States as well, but I'm definitely seeing a trend towards more traditional styles for competition, which I like. If it's not a traditional looking uniform. It's a dress with clean lines and usually just one color. |

We tend to stick to the traditional, black pants with a colored top, however, this year we did a little extra and we beat our rivals for the first time in 9 years. Our dancing improved, but the visual effects were totally because of the uniform!! |

Skirt and shell all the way. I personally think it looks best. Traditonal and clean. We've always scored perfect on representation of a high school dance team. We do get costumes for other categories though, our uniforms would look rather silly while doing jazz or hip hop. |

Well our "pom" squad also does jazz and hip hop. So we wear a leotard with our logo on it and jazz pants. It's dosen't really mess with our lines at all. (We're a midwestern team too.) Sometimes, like at the NDTC we wear something that's more area specific (Cargo pants and hoodie for hip hop...you get the point)

The traditioal pom uniforms that tend to look like cheerleading uniforms. Our uniforms look a lot like our school's cheer uniforms, but are blue and black instead of the cheer squad's blue and white. |

For my squad it would just depend on what we were performing. For pregame and our sideline routines and sitting/cheering in the stands we wore our skirts and shells. If it got cold out we added our under armor also.
For halftime performances we always wore black jazz pants and then a dance top. We had multiple tops, all in our school colors, and we just rotated which top we wore.
For competition we had different uniforms. For example, last year we did a "navy" kickline so we got little sailor dresses with hats. But for our pom routine we wore our jazz pants and one of our tops we wore for halftime.
Overall, I love the look of the skirt and shell but I always got called a cheerleader when wearing them! I really like black jazz pants with a pretty dance top. I don't like "competition themed" uniforms. Not for me. |

We have always worn our uniforms, which is a long sleeved liner, shell, and skirt. We've put rhinestones on them which really help them stand out.
Overall it just looks very professional. I remember at one competition our rival team wore costumes and we of course were in our uniforms. At the next competition the same team came wearing uniforms with their hair done just like ours! Obviously we made an impression... |

I just made JV as a freshman, so I'm not really sure, but I've seen my team wear a skirt and shell, jazz pants with a leotard, and booty shorts with a tank top and a jacket. |

the team at my school has two uniforms. One is the traditional skirt and shell while the other one is a polo and a really short flared out skirt. They almost never wear their traditional uniform for school games; they always wear the polo and shorter skirt. They save it for the competitions. During football season, they wear the skirt and polo over yoga pants with a jacket and headband because it's really cold where I live. |
