-any large open space must be used for the new step
-any time you are picked to move in a game, everyone knows you will do some sort of dance move
-in a children's game where you have to fly across the circle, you will leap
-wood floor=hardshoe or tap steps
-lunch time means a chance to run through your steps/routine
-you can more easily list what doesn't hurt from the waist down
-you avoid going to the doctor, becuase you know he/she will tell you to stop dancing for some amount of time
-you can't help but stop and look at the lovely muscles in your legs when passing a mirror or shiny surface (or is that just me, since the rest of me isn't as toned?)
-all the toes of your street shoes are scuffed off from practicing out on the sidewalk during recess
-when introducing yourself, the first thing that pops out of your mouth is what kind of dance you do, and that you are competitive (aka, I don't just do this as a hobby)
-you get yelled at for dancing upstairs when the baby is sleeping, and you don't stop, you just try to land softer (which I should have been doing in the first place)
-it takes less than two seconds to convince you to dance in front of strangers
-seeing a non dancer making fun of your dance, or seeing a non dancer pretend to dance, or seeing a non dancer think they can dance like you do makes you want to run screaming in the other direction, or beat them over the head with a hard shoe (it hurts more, trust me)
-having bruises on your legs, ankles, and feet from kicking yourself while working on that new move is a normal thing.

You might be a dancer if...
Everytime someone wants to take your picture, your feet automatically go to 5th position.
At your yearly physical, the doctor asks you if you can touch your toes, and your palms are flat on the floor.
You chereograph dances to all your favorite songs.

... you wish that music would randomly come on like it does in the movies/musicials while you're anywhere doing anything (for example: walking down the street, sitting in the subway, studying in class, etc.) so you can dance your life out... as if all the world is your stage and every move n thought is a piece of choreography!

i love:
"you are well coordinated in dance class but trip over your own feet just walking"

oh boy that one totally happened to me. it was right after my recital and my family was going out to eat with my borthers boyfriend. we went to stake n' shake and we saw some other dance people there and i ran up to see them. next thing i knew i was flat on my back! i just randomly slipped on something. boy it was embarrasing.

ok but here's mine:
you can't help but cringe when someone asks you if you dance on "toe shoes"

I especialy like the ones about dancing down the grocery aisles ( :D ), practising when you are in class, standing in first, and having holes in your socks from dancng all the time! Like all my socks do, my mum has to buy me new ones all the time lol

HaHA! I just started dancing this month, and I do a lot of this stuff! :) mostly the stretching in front of the T.V. and doing leaps down the halls in my house. I've got no guts to do it in the stores lol. My family used to look at me wierd when I danced down the hall, but now they just roll their eyes and walk away:)
Here's a bunch i found:)

as possible.
2. You get upset when all you can find at Disneyworld is a CHEERLEADER Minnie.
3. You pop out of your chair and start dancing to the theme songs of

do it while seated in the back seat of a moving bus).
10. Hallways are always a place to practice leaps.
11. You own more leotards than formal gowns.
12. You can fix anything with safety pins.
13. You look at street clothes and see possibilities for practice outfits.
14. A broken toe is more than an inconvenience.
15. Dance merchandise and costume catalogues are captivating reading material.

16. Seeing someone do the splits does not send you into shock.
17. Stretching is not just something you do for a few seconds when you roll
out of bed in the morning.
18. You do not think "Capezio" is an Italian pasta dish.
19. "Dancing" is the one of the first items you write down when asked to list
your hobbies.
20. You have, at one point or another, found a pair of lyrical sandals, tap
screws, etc in your purse or wedged in the back seat of your car.

is on TV.

You know your a dancer when...

Your at dance while your friends are at the mall or eating

You fail your test because you were at dance the night before

You fall asleep in stretching positions

Youcan't belive people are complaining they're tired when they did nothing the night before when you were at dane the entire night and thn had to study

If you don't have a lot of homework you stay to take the next levels classes jsut because you hve nothing better to do with your life

When there no dance you sit around the house with no idea what to do with youself because your so unused to having free time

You do you splits while watching T.V.

You can get on a stage and compete in a solo fine but your self-concious that people are watching you when you walk down the hall.

The place you feel most confertable is dance because you spend o much time with those people that they are more your friends thn you friends that you call your friends.

forgot ome in the last one

You know your a dancer when

you can't have any sleepovers because you have dance saterday morning

you automatically go to one after eight

you have more leotards/tights/sprot brad/ect. than regular clothes

dance is your main priority

You'de rather spend your friday right helping to teach the little kid classes than hng out wiht your friends

your always the first one changed for gym because your used to chnging into tights, tight costumes, hair ecc., ect backstage with one numth or fourth positionber.

you habitully stand in fifth or fourth position

you go through socks like crazy because when you dance around the house they get holes

you can't do any afterschool sports because they conflict with dance

you have bobby pins lying ll over your room

youcan ut up your hair in like 2 seconds

your feet point every time they leave the ground

when you told to do 100 crunches the students say "thats it tday, cool" and remarks like that

you have more pairs of jazz shoes than all of your regular shoes.

I love that one time I told the stylist I wanted it short but it had to be long enough to put in a bun. She said well thats still pretty long but to me i'm so used to everyone having long hair that I thought it was short.

~People always make fun of how you walk like a duck
~Standing in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th position is more natural than standing "normally"
~You could fall asleep stretching
~You use free time in gym to practice your dances

Just some I thought of off the top of my head :)

You go to a hockey game, and instead of watching the game, you choreograph a new version of Snow in your head, and imagine yelling at the players as they perform it...

You think that if sports players had to smile throughout the entire game, they would only begin to get a taste of how hard your art is..

All the shoes (dance and non dance) in your closet are parked neatly in first position.

You pack for a recital like you'll be gone for a month (I know I do!)

You own more dance shoes than regular shoes, and more dance clothes than regular clothes.

Most of your friends are jealous of your B cup sized bra when you'd gladly swap it for a 32 A.

Great thread, and so true!
