what a coincidence. I just saw some videos of a brazillian guy who does roller figure skaitng, on youtube. he seems to be going quite abit slower than figure skaters do, maybe its because the area is smaller. but it's so cool to see them do jumps and all! I'm really impressed.

yer we cant get as much air as ice skaters because of the weight on our feet with wheels and axels etc but it is really awsome when we do.lol so it really is equally as difficult as ice skating.

Ok so I have a burningggg question...

How do roller figure skaters manage to spin so well!? I tried once and I kept getting stuck on the wheels...there must be some special trick!

I think it's really cool that you do this, I just saw some videos on youtube and I thought it was the coolest thing!

well there are several types there is a heel and toe spin where you put all your weight on the front two wheels of one foot and on the other foot you put all your weight on the back two wheels and then you just spin its easier when you have been moving though lol alos you can spin on just one foot by putting all your weight n your front two wheels and list your other foot but it is rather easy once you know what you are doing lol

p.s if you have any other questions feel free to ask and i hope all of the above made sense

Yeah i saw the guy doing a camel on only the back two wheels. ITS CRAZY! I would be soo so unstable. i also wonder how you guys do toe jumps like toeloops and flips? Do you use the stopper in the front of the skate? I guess that seems like a stupid question, but i've never seen it in real life and i've only seen a few videos.

its not really hard you just put all the weight on your back two wheels and moe yuour front wheels as for junps and that yes we use our toe stops we pu all our weight into the toe stop to get a jump done it is easier if you have been skating fast first. But it is really painful when you dont quite put all the weight into the toe stop cause you fall flat on your face lol i have done it on many occasions. It looks awsome when toe loops and jumps are done in a precision team i was in one and we got to victorian novice national championships and came second put it sux when your on the end of a pin wheel and get flung off it hurts lol anyways sorry for babling.

I started skating about 20 years ago (god I feel old now) and competed for 10 years. The roller rink was 3 miles away and the ice rink was 20 so I ended up doing roller which I loved. I'd love to see websites or hear of any competitions in the DC area. It would be fun to go watch:)
