Hello all on this deathly quiet board!

I live in the US, and I have been in love with classical Indian dance (Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi) since I was very small. I'd give anything to be able to learn one of those styles, but I don't know of any opportunities I would have (also I am lilely have to give up the dance I already take for awhile for in-patient E.D. treatment).

So, in compensation, I've spent the last few days whoring around the internet for classical Indian dance photos. Here are some of my favorite findings-
I love this dancer and the pictures I found of her. She seems so talented and her expression is great (or at least it seems to be, I'm not one to judge this type of dance)

I'd love to learn more Indian Classical (especially Bharata Natyam) but there is NO ONE in this state who can teach me.

So, like you, I goggle at amazing photos like yours and wish I could do that, lol.

Those are STUNNING! I love them. I don't know the first thing about Indian classical dance, except that it looks BEAUTIFUL!

By the way what is that charming odissi dancer's name?

Indeed "deathly quiet board", I've checked all the entries, they were made in 2005. Looks strange.

Wonderfull Kuchipudi dancers' pictures can be found at webpages of one of the best Academies of this dance style. Academy is based in Chennai. Their website is kuchipudi.com. Academy is being directed by maestro Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam.

The image links (on Photobucket) you provided are now dead.

You see, such dance forms as Bharatanatyam or Odissi are wrongly listed here in the "folk" section, so it makes it hard for people to find what is where!

Learning Bharatanatyam or Odissi means committing a lot of time and effort.
Why don't you first just watch out a few instructional DVDs (there are many on JayQ.org ), try to practise on your own a little, and then decide if you really want to study it seriously?

I am sorry to say that, but I don't understand Russian, so it was a bit hard to find the pictures. Are they of your own?
Why do most of the dancers in the photos hold their lower jaw in such a funny manner?

The pictures are my own ones You are right, such a lower position of my jaw is one of my terrible mistakes, I am trying to change this disgusting habbit every time I am practicing.
