I have never attempted to make a flag bag but i would think you need to get a very durable fabric like a thick canvas and then i sugeest you measure the flag for example if it is on a 6 foot pole make the height 6 1/4 foot tall so theres room and the easiest way i would think to construce is make two long panels sew them on the 3 sides and put the longest zipper you can find the make a little strap
but i have never tried to make one so i would not know for sure
tell me what you do in the end
hope i helped |

I don't think felt is durable enough. |

Felt is deffiently not durable enough, they weight of the flag and pole will wear through it for sure. You have an awesome idea though, think thick, canvas, dennim, canvas/nylon. yes measure the flag and allow extra, ie, flag is 6 foot, I would make first pannel 6 foot 4 inches, to make it easier and for seam allowances, then the other two pannels will be the same, you can use a nylon strap for an adjustable handle, Good luck |

I know you've already finished making your bag, but I have a few suggestions anyway. First, if you want something fancy, you can get a sewing pattern for a ski bag. They're usually about the right size for flags, too.
That said, I haven't made a flag bag in years because you can simply order ski bags for about $10-$15 if you really look around. The ski bags are cool because they usually include extra storage where you can put your keys, rolls of tape, etc. The more expensive ones have built-in organizers and tons of extra storage space (but they can be REALLY expensive). |
