Hi

Here is a little explanation of the VIS Disco Department!

What is the VIS Disco Department?

The VIS Disco Department is a vitual disco school, as in it's make believe, just for a bit of fun! We have classes and competitions to try and help you improve your disco in real life! For example, Stretching Class can give you advice and tips to help you become more flexible and Solo Class could help you with new moves for your routine! The whole point is to get advice, make new friends and have fun!

How do I sign up?

Simple! Just click on the sticky called 'Register in the Disco Department' and fill out the form inside it to become a member! Make sure that you have signed up for VIS first in the main VIS forum.

What is a virtual class?

A virtual class is a thread posted by a teacher with an explanation of an imaginary class inside. They will post a warm up and activities for the class and you can read it to pick up tips or try it out at home! They may even include pictures of moves and stretches.

What is a virtual competition?

A virutal competition is an imaginary disco competition! The organiser will post a sign up thread with details inside it and set a date. On the day you have to post a routine (written in words) and a costume picture (unless you cannot hotlink) on a new competition thread. There will be judges who will read the routines and place the competitiors. The winner can win karma and a trophy!

How can I get involved in these things?

As soon as you have signed up then you can join classes, take part in competitions and even try running your own class! You just have to reply to sign up threads when they appear on this board!

How do I take part in classes?

When a class is being run, the teacher will post a sign up thread. Fill in the form inside it and then wait for the class to begin!

How do I take part in competitions?

When a competition is being run, the organiser will post up a sign up thread. Fill in the form inside it and then follow instructions on the day to post your routine.

How can I become a teacher?

If you want to become a teacher then look out for recruitment threads which will be posted if there is a new class idea or someone has given up teaching a class. When you see these then reply saying that you want to be a teacher. When you get confirmation from the head of the Disco Department that you are the teacher then you must set up a class time and post a sign up thread. Make sure your class has a warm-up and everything is clearly explained so your pupils can do it at home (you can even include pictures!). But remember - once you are a teacher you have to be committed! If you miss posting a lot of classes then you will be replaced!

Can I run or help with competitions?

Yes! Anyone can run a competition, you just have to tell the head of department so that two do not happen on the same day! If you want to help out with a competition, there are usually vacancies for judges or trophy makers so keep an eye out on the competition threads!

Who is the head of department and how can I become the head?

The current head of department will be posted on the board somewhere which will be easy to find for everyone. Every year we will hold an election for Head of Department. People nominate a person for the job and we have a vote until we have three finalists. Then we have another vote with the three finalists and the current head of department to become the new head. This way the members have a choice to stick with the current head or have a new one! The runner up will be named vice head. If the head is away for a while then the vice head will take over the running of the department.

There is something I don't understand. Who do I contact?

If you have a question then PM the head or vice head of the disco department. If you have a question about a class then PM the teacher and if you have a question about a competition then PM the oragniser.

Hope this clears things up and makes VIS a bit more understandable for everyone!

Love Rochelle xxxxx
