I'm sure this has been done before but I didn't see one.

The age old question. What do you think?

Egg. If there is a chicken first, it's always been, and no evolution was involved. Evolutionary speaking, the egg is first, since the mother of the egg wasn't quite a chicken, and the egg is a mutation into the chicken.

Just jumped in his little chicken-sized convertable and took off...

The egg. Cause breakfast comes before lunch/dinner, and honestly, who has chicken for breakfast? Except me. I'll eat anything anytime... as long as it's not fish or anything super spicy.

^ I've never thought of it like that before :] Well thought!

I still voted for the Chicken though. I believe the chicken came first because you need chickens in order for eggs to be created and laid.

Chickens come from eggs, so the egg had to have been first.

Well the chicken would have had to lay the egg. But then where did the chicken come from? Hmmmm i think the chicken popped out of the sky...seems like al logical explanation dont you think? =]

The chicken came first because you need a chicken to sit on eggs and keep them warm. If the egg came first, then they would die because they would get too cold without a mother hen sitting on them. But if the chickens came first, they could always reproduce with eachother. ;) And besides, I can't imagine the world being created with a bunch of eggs and baby animals...

Hi

Definately the chicken. Eggs don't just appear!
And if you beleive in God and his creation of the universe then it says that God created all ANIMALS which must have included chickens!

OMG i am LMAO reading this!!! have any of you ever seen Chicken Run? you know the part at the very end where Nick and Fletcher are discussing this very topic? you all remind me of them so much. it's almost the same convo. if you've seen it you know what i'm talking about, but if you haven't seen the movie, you have to now, just for this part. it's absolutely hilarious.

P.S. their convo (Nick and Fletcher's) continues for a little bit after the credits are over (until Rocky comes along and tells them to shut it).

EGG.

Dinosaurs laid eggs.

Dinosaurs came before chickens.

Egg came first.

I say it's really hard to say which one came first. You have to have one before you can have the other. I mean, you have to have the egg before you can have the chicken, but then you have to have the chicken before you can have the egg. It's really like a circle. There is no clear beginning and no clear ending.

interesting point, dust2dust. no one said they were talking specifically about a CHICKEN egg. you convinced me, egg came first, whether the rest of you choose to believe it or not. oh, and singergirl4life helped, with her whole food analogy... mention food i'll pay attention... i'm always hungry. karma to you both.

Chicken. I see RuleroftheArts point, but I'll turn it around the other way just to make it interesting. :)

Had to be a chicken from an evolutionary standpoint. For the sake of argument we'll call the first bird to lay an egg a chicken. So there's some weird creatures walking around. They aren't quite chickens. One has a mutation and gives birth to the first chicken. That first chicken then lays an egg. Chicken was first.

Of course you can make the argument either way. :)

If you want to bring dinosaurs into the equation, then egg wins! (Sheesh, I just typed "wings" instead of "wins.) They kept on laying eggs, kept on evolving, but still laying eggs, and eventually we got the proto-chicken, and then the chicken.

^ yes, but that first chicken from the mutant parents came from an egg. And since it was born a chicken, it had to have been a chicken embrio. therefore, it came from a CHICKEN egg.

Chicken. It was developed and then started laying eggs.
