What language is the best to learn? en>fr fr>en By Kerry_arty Comments: 232, member since Wed Jun 14, 2006On Thu Sep 14, 2006 02:35 PM
Hiya!
I LOVE languages, and am currently learning French & Spanish. As I haven't been doing Spanish all that long I prefer French at the moment, but also love Spanish.
What language do you enjoy learning most, which do you find easier and which do you believe is more useful to know?
Love, Kerry xxx

I've been learning English for a few years at my school and I love it. I don' spek it perfektly but I like learning this language. It gives me fun, pleasure and satisfaction:]
I think it's very useful language also because if I hadn't knew it I wouldn't have understood a word from this website;)
I've also been learning French for a year now but I don't really enjoy it so I don't speak it well.
P.S. I've always been thinking Spanish is a great lanuage;)
BIG HUG

the best to learn is your native language.
After it I prefer, English, French, and Spanish. They are my favorites. I can also include Japanese =))
And Italian, yes for Italian, it’s a melodic, passionate and free language. |

I guess it depends on what you are planning to do with that language. I would recomend any non-native to learn english as a first language. It`s international, and let´s face it.. you are lost nowadays without it. Afterwards I`d go for latin, because after latin spanish, french and italien come easy. Latin is the classical language in the academic sphere, and if you are going there you will need it. But afterwards? I`m a native german and I love my language. Spanish, italian and french are nice for vacations and literature, too. Right now I`m learning russian, and that kyrillic stuff is giving me a hard time!
Keep on learning! You can never have too many languages.. |

My native language is French, my second one is English and I speak it rather fluently, and I started learning Spanish a few years ago. I don't speak it really well yet but I can still hold a basic conversation. I'm really glad I learnt both of these languages because English is obviously an international language, and Spanish is spoken by a really large amount of people. |

Well, I think it is really important to have a good language base in english. You really dont get very far in the international world without knowing it... I would also say that both french and spanish are good languages to know a bit of... |

^ That probably depends alot on what your first language is, i doubt someone with a latin first language would agree. Besides, the grammar is heavier in German. |

I am German and from not native speaker friend I know that German is really hard to learn, exspecially if you speak native English, the grammar is really complex.
I would say that Spanish is the easiest to learn, I never tried, but people say the pronountation is easy and the grammar is very logical. |

I would always suggest learning English. It's a fairly easy-to-learn language and you can use it for at least basic conversation almost anywhere (well, except most of France and maybe some very rural areas.
Other than that I think Spanish is a nice language - it sounds great and it's spoken in so many different countries. And it's also fairly easy to learn, especially because the grammar isn't extraordinarily complicated. I've been taking Spanish for about 2 years now and I think I could halfways make myself understood if I had to
About German I'd agree with the previous poster. I'm German as well, so it's diffcult to judge how hard learning German might be. From non-German larners I heard that it's not very easy. And just thinking about some of the funky grammar and spelling rules that even some Germans have trouble with...
I think it's generally easier to learn a language that is closely related to one's mother tongue (e.g. Roman languages vs. Germanic languages). Apart from that it's mainly the approach to the language, how it's being taught, what you yourself connect with it, experience in a native language environment and so on, which determines how well or how easily you learn a language. |

English is my first language and I think that is probably the best to learn in today's world. I've also heard from foreign exchange students that it is really easy to laern! But I also speak French, which is really fun. |
