We need to make this board active!
My name is Luthien. I'm not actually assistant teaching this year, but I did last year. I helped with the intermeddiate (sp?) ballet class, and once taught two classes for one of my teachers because she was having surgery. I hope I can still post here...
I've been dancing for 8 years and do ballet and jazz, and this year started worship dance.

Hi. I'm Abby. I'm 20. I've been dancing for 17 years, ballet, jazz, and tap, mostly. I'm a teacher for one Advanced Jazz and Advanced Ballet class, and assistant teacher for an intermediate jazz class. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By KayElle Comments: 4480, member since Sat Jul 16, 2005On Mon Oct 02, 2006 06:21 PM
Yeah, I totally didn't know this board existed either /frown but I'm assisting in mainly preschool and creative movement classes, and in adapted dance (for kids up to 12 years with special needs). | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Sparkleballerina Comments: 541, member since Fri Dec 16, 2005On Mon Oct 02, 2006 09:07 PM

Hello, I'm Nicole! This is my first year assitant teaching. I help teach two "babies" classes, and one tap and jazz class. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Claire Comments: 2374, member since Mon Oct 20, 2003On Tue Oct 03, 2006 05:40 AM
I started teaching in August. I've been doing Irish for 4 years and I compete in prelims. I take ballet and jazz during the summer.
I started as one of the teachers at a new satellite location, which is growing quickly. I teach beginners to prizewinners (4th level of 6, last level before championship), ages 4 to 16. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By ash89dancer Comments: 1447, member since Sat Dec 27, 2003On Tue Oct 03, 2006 06:38 AM

Well my name is Yvonne I and (for another week) live in Washington State. I'm 14. I've been dancing for over 4 years, I am a Irish dancer soon to be beginner ballet and tap dancer. Last spring I taught the beginner class when the original assistant teacher badly sprained her ankle and the head master was late.
Hello!

I'm Claire, and a few years back, I taught all the beginner Irish Dancers at my old school the basics really. It was really fun watching them progress, although some of them were a bit hyper! Most of them were really nice kids though and I enjoyed teaching them their first Irish Dances.
I don't teach anymore as my old school closed down.

Hi, I'm Caitlin. I'm 16 and I teach extra (holiday, Sunday, warm-up, etc) classes for pre pro students ages 13-15. My school's main teachers are all former NYCB dancers, but I am one of 2 pre-pro level girls allowed to give extra classes for dancers who missed regular class because of sickness/schedule conflict, as well as holiday and sunday evening classes for really dedicated dancers, and sometimes warm-up classes before NYCB performances for girls 9-13 who can't handle company class yet, although I prefer the older students. I don't really do any assistant teaching, because my school has professionals teach all the main classes. but I'm not sure I'm considered a full teacher yet because I don't do instructional classes. (I have taught instructional classes at less professional studios, but I don't really count those because perhaps only 1 girl each graduating class manages to get into any nationally known company, rather than all 20 something at my school). I don't know if maybe I qualify for the teacher's boards, so I'll stay on this one for a while. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By KMonster Comments: 3594, member since Mon Aug 04, 2003On Tue Oct 03, 2006 11:51 AM
Hey hey, I'm Kayla. I'm 19 years old and have been dancing for... oh now 13 years. I've been a teachers assistant for ages 3-13 in ballet, tap, jazz and elements of lyrical.

I'm 15, and have been dancing for somewhere around 8 years. Right now I feel like I'm in a support group...Anywho
I assistant teach a kindergarteners combo class, which is tap ballet and acro. I dance ballet/pointe, just started jazz, and have had much experience in tap. I've also done twirling.
Why did I not notice this board? bleh

My name is Emmy. I'm 17 and I've been sober for two months.
Just kidding, I couldn't resist... haha Snackledoop
Anyways, I've been dancing for 12 years and this is my fifth year as a teacher's assistant. I started out with a 10-11 year old class for a few years, and every summer I did a few dance camps for the little ones, age 3-6. Last year I assisted for two classes: 2nd graders and 4th graders. That was a lot for me since I was at the studio from 4 until 9 on those nights, so this year I'm with the 2nd grade class only. I adore assisting, the kids are just too cute! | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Dancebabe414 Comments: 330, member since Wed Aug 10, 2005On Tue Oct 03, 2006 06:27 PM
Hello everyone!!! I'm Jamie. I am 14 years old. I am on my 9th year of dance and I do ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, and lyrical. I ahve been at my studio for 3 years, now going on 4, and this is my 1st year teaching.
My class that I teach are 8 and 9 year olds, which they are about 5 classes under mine, or the 3rd highest class. They are still learning basic ballet steps and tap too. They haven't started anything else since my studio only does ballet and tap with the little ones. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By April_Nikita Comments: 87, member since Wed Jun 28, 2006On Thu Oct 05, 2006 03:04 PM
I didn't know this board existed till today.
My name is April, I'm 20. Right now I'm assisting ISTD ballet grades 2 and 3 and modern grades 1, 2, and 6. I also am doing a little beyond assisting in Tap grades pri, 1, 2, 3,5, and intermediate because I'm workings towards my associate tap.
I've really been enjoying teaching this year, I've never taught this much before. Its also exicting to work on choreography for the classes that I'm more fully teaching with my studio owners assistant. She is all wise and knowing! hehe. Its also really neat to be majorly involved in the planning of our future recital and our christmas event. Its a super exciting year! | |

Hola! I'm Cathy and I'm 17 (almost 18!) years old.
I started assistant teaching creative movement and pre-ballet classes when I was 13. I was pulled aside after one of my classes one day by the owner of my studio, and she asked me if I would be interested. Of course I said yes!
Since January though, I have not been assisting anymore. My last semester of high school was very busy with rehearsals, performances, prom, and graduation. I just didn't have the time. Now that I am in college though, I am hoping to start assistant teaching again in the near future. I miss my little ballerina babies. | was up!!! en>fr fr>en By Wonka13 Comments: 10, member since Sat Oct 07, 2006On Sat Oct 07, 2006 12:47 PM
Hey. My name is Splendid (yes it is my real name). This is about my second year asistant teaching. I teach all but 6 of the classes and I take 3 of them. I LOVE CANDY. hints the nick name wonka. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Lonannuniel Comments: 905, member since Tue Dec 21, 2004On Sat Oct 07, 2006 03:55 PM
Hi there!
I'm Lonannuniel! I'm 15, almost 16, and I have been dancing for about four years. I am currently taking ballet, pointe, modern and jazz and am involved with one of my studio's companies. I have taken hip-hop and a little tap in the past.
I am an assistant in pre-primary (mix of RAD ballet and ISTD Jazz) and Grade 1 Jazz. I really like assisting, its taught me lots about myself and about others too. It's a very good way to broaden your dance experiance!
The things I do in the class varies between each class. However, I do a lot more of the teaching in the Kinderdance class and more "assisting" in the grade 1 jazz.
My assistant position is strictly voluntary although a job may come out of it in the future. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Danzin_fool Comments: 236, member since Tue Nov 29, 2005On Sat Oct 07, 2006 04:08 PM
Hi,
I'm Kailee, I started assisting with classes last year. I've been dancing for four years now, and I assist with two creative movement classes (3 and 4 yr olds), a hip hop class (12,13,14 yr olds), A pre-competetive class, our competetive troupe for kids like grade 5-7, A tap/jazz combo class, and hip hop for 5 year olds..... Wow lol I didn't realize my list was that long!
Anyway I love assisting, and hope to teach my own classes someday. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Twirler320 Comments: 275, member since Sun Oct 10, 2004On Sat Oct 07, 2006 07:45 PM
I'm Amy and I'm 20. I've been baton twirling for 14 years, and I've been assisting in baton classes for about 2 years now. On Mondays, I teach a class of five and help another twirler. Thursdays I help a class for an half hour, and I usually end up assisting another 1.5 hours. I wanted to move and start my own group, but life circumstances didn't permit it! Oh well, nothing can replace being in my hometown. | re: Introduce youself! en>fr fr>en By Ally Comments: 2992, member since Sun Dec 11, 2005On Wed Oct 11, 2006 10:20 PM
