I posted this suggestion on the 'What Else' thread ages ago, but how about a Dorms Assigner for VIS?

I think it would help the less active dorms like Plie and Fouette get a few active members and get them a bit more active.

Any Thoughts?

I think this is a good idea and we should get a committee or something together and start this.

I'd be happy to do this for VIS. I just joined a few weeks ago but I want to get active!

I was even thinking about doing reassigning to get the more populated dorms equaled out to the dead dorms.

I think assigning the dorms is a good idea. It keeps them from getting clique like and also takes the pressure off of those just joining VIS. It's hard to pick a dorm when you know nothing about it.

I would love to be a part of the committee. I remember when I first joined VIS, I had no idea where to become a member at.

I think this is an okay idea, but Arabesque and Attidtude have had alot of activates latly and have rooms set up, id cards, members of the month and brithdays so wont it be unfair to the people who toke alot of time getting their droms active again to be booted out or have to set up everything again?

I personally really like being a member of the arabesque dorm, the people in my dorm and I am active in that dorm too.

So AdagioGirl and Plummie want to head the committee??

I have a question though, how will we know when there's a member that wants to join VIS and be in a dorm? Should we have a sign up sheet in VIS saying that we will sort everyone?

Yes we will have a new sign up stating they will be assigned to a dorm. I am going to talk to the older members and see how they used to do it. I think it was by age to have a "Big Sis Little Sis" programs working with the dorms.

How do you think we should do this?



EDIT: And the whole thing about reassigning current members was to get older members to head the dorms that need help. It's not like its because that dorm doesnt like you just to help out the others. It would be a voluntary thing most likely. Or just put the newer members in the last month to the other two dorms to give them members.

While I don't have the time to help out in this commitee, I wanted to say that it's a marvelous idea!

So many people flock to the more active dorms that the other two are left out. I agree that something should be done.

There is a new Sign up Student card for VIS I made yesterday. Check it out: www.dance.net . . .

If you are already a student you do not have to fill it out. It's for Adagio and Plummie to know who isnt in a dorm and to decide where to assign them.

I noticed a few people have signed up to be in my dorm since last friday (the 20th) I was thinking maybe we should also include them in assigning them to the dorms?

Does anyone know how many people are in each dorm, in terms of numbers, so we can evenly sort people out? It's hard to tell how many members each dorm has...

Should we send a PM to the newly joining members to tell them which dorm they have been assigned?

we either pm all members of each dorm and ask them if they are active or see who are active in each dorm(like if they participated in the activates) I think if you are not active in your dorm for the last month or so then you should be assigned a new dorm.

So... how are things going? Plumeria and I have been assigning the new people to dorms, but I was just wondering if any activity had picked up in the less active dorms. (It's probably too soon to tell, but...) I just checked on the board for the Fouette dorm and it looks a bit more active. Yay!

Also, some people have specifically requested to be in a certain dorm. How does everyone feel about being assigned to dorms, anyway? Is it taking away the choice?

We got a thread on Plie pretty active, so things are starting to get more active there.

This is a great idea! I'd be willing to move to one of the less active dorms and help get it active again, or at least visit and help get it active. You can PM me or post here about this, I'll keep checking here to make sure I don't miss anything.

The other dorms are slowly dying now. No changing dorms. Stay in your dorm you already choose.

Only new members are to be assigned.
