I need help, as the title says i have just passed my levels at coaching, and have a dozen kids waiting for us to start a squad.

We have some cheerdance experience, but no cheerleading.

I would like to buy a video to see what to expect i am registered with the BCA can anyone tell me which is the best day to have a look at the championships( of the dvd on the BCA web site), i dont think we will be doing partner stunts YET!!!! but are interested in cheerdance and cheerleading.

Did anyone go to the championships i think it was in nottingham, any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks jackie

I;m not sure how BCA works, but in the US a lot of of the all star cheerleading companies go by level of what you can and can't do in regards to tumbling and stunting. So basically a team of beginners can compete against other beginners their own age. It's a really good system and I think you should look into that possibly competing around level 2 or even maybe non mount if stunting doesn't seem to be there thing. If BCA doesn't have this system, sorry my post is kinda pointless then!

thanks for taking the time to reply to my message, i think they do have levels.

We are looking at lots of things on you tube at how to run a practice, my daughter is a dancer so has lots of ideas. i have a degree in sports so i can do all the conditioning stuff so i think between us we should be ok.

Thanks again jac

If you know of any good video i would be grateful if you could let me know, ideas on training i mean

Get either DVD #6 (Prep Squad Novice, Peewee Novice, PW Int/Advan, Junior Novice, Junior Intermed, Junior Coed,) or DVD #7 (Sen Novice, Sen Int, Sen Advan, Sen Coed Int, Sen Coed Advan, University, University Coed, Coed Open). These show all squads that entered on Saturday (Sunday is the final rounds) so you can see a wider range of material.

For cheer dance you can go to a comp and see what it involves (either BCA or Future Cheer).

Good luck with your new squad. Where are you based?
