I thought some of you might be interested in doing this course. The principal teacher is amazing, she's really little and cute (a slight slave driver, but only in the best way lol). The school is really small, and has a family feeling, but at the same time turns out dancers who are among the best in New Zealand. And I'll be there, so you'll have the added advantage of meeting me ;)

It's at Sole Movement Dance School in Warkworth (which isn't actually that far away anymore - and there's hardly any traffic, hehe). They're taking enrolments for 2007 now.

A unique Performing Arts Course that provides students the opportunity to further develop and enhance their skills that will provide them with the ability to enter professional dance or musical theatre.

The course will cover most styles of dance, including classical ballet, tap, modern, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and street funk. Working towards becoming a versatile dancer is essential in today's professional world of dance. Also covered each week will be drama and singing classes, essential skills to obtain for musical theatre. Many other aspects such as audition technique, personal grooming and injury prevention will be covered through out the year. There will also be the opportunity to sit the required exams to become a qualified teacher in the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA).

The principal teacher, Angela Sharplin, is highly qualified and is a registered teacher in all styles of dance. She has dance professionally in England, Japan and through out the USA. All guest teachers and choreographers are also very highly qualified professionals and are well known and respected in the New Zealand dance industry.

All classes are timetabled over an intensive 3 day period. This hasbeen proven to be very advantageous to students as they are able to work or do part-time study (also, for younger students still wishing to complete school, it makes correspondance an option). Students will be trained in a fully equipped dance studio located approximately 45 minutes north of Auckland. Possibility of accomodation also available.

As part of the unique training that Sole Movement has to offer, we hope to give the students the opportunity to perform in New Zealand during their time training. At the end of the course, students have to option to audition to dance professionally with the worlds' largest cruise ship company, or for one of the top dance colleges in England (where past students have made it to the West End or bigger).

We are taking enrolments for 2007 now. If you would like further information please contact Angela Sharplin on (09) 424 2722 or email angeli@kol.co.nz
