So this year I chose a "Seasons" theme for our recital and might I add, I will never do it again...I think this has been the hardest one yet for choosing songs!

Well, anyways I have 4 Pre-K Ballet classes and I thought it would be a neat idea to have each class be a season and dance to a "season" appropriate song and open the show with them...well I am stuck on a autumn/fall song. I also might need a summer one. I am not really happy with the one I have.

My other class I am stuck on is a 4-5 year old Ballet for the month of September. Got any ideas? Currently I have them dancing to "A Wonderful World" and if I find a new song I will replace it, and give "A Wonderful World" to my summer pre-k's. T
(Songs with words for both classes would be great!)

Thanks for your help. Also if you have any neat songs or recital ideas you used when you did this theme please feel free to share! Thanks, Dancingly...Eryn

I did this theme several years ago and loved it!
We used Turkey in the Straw for our fall/autumn, the girls were dressed in yellow, white and blue gingham, it was so cute.
For summer we used "Summertime, Summertime, Sum Sum Summertime" it as very cute.
If you need more help, let me know.

These songs might not be right for the age groups you are talking about but all I can think of is See You In September by The Beach Boys and Autumn Leaves by Roger Williams. Or another thought is, could the really young ones do "A Your'e Adorable" to represent school starting in September? Its a old Kimbo song that is cute for little ballerinas. Or there is also "An Apple For The Teacher" that would work for September.

As for other song ideas appropriate for the age group you mentioned, I used :
Lets Go Fly A Kite for April
Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows for June
Be My Little Baby Bumblebee for June/July
By The Sea for July
Winter Wonderland (instrumental version) for Dec.

I have a ton of other songs for all ages but I don't know if you need any ideas for them. PM me if you want.

Have fun with your theme and don't regret picking it. Your audience will love it!! It was one of my very favorites of 29 years of recitals that I did.

I was wondering if you knew who the artists were for "Turkey in the Straw" and "Summertme, Summertime, Sum Sum Summertime"...that would be a really big help. Also I just thought of one more class I am still looking for a song for...It is a 4-5 year old Ballet in January. I can find a lot of slower songs that talk about being cold, but then they all relate to Christmas and this needs to be strictly January. Thanks for everyones help! I greatly appreciate it!! Summertime Summertime Sum Sum Summertime is called "Summertime" and is either by Sam Cooke 1957 or The Jamies 1958. I believe its Sam Cooke.
For a January song about cold but not Christmasy sounding, how about "Baby Its Cold Outside" by Steve & Edie or "Winter Wonderland".

Another holidayish song for little kids that is cute for tap is "Down The Holiday Trail" by Teresa Brewer. Would be good for Nov./Dec. if you need one for then.
