I'm not sure what you mean by flat, but the way I got my extensions higher was to stretch. Splits, and other various stretches. I also practiced doing them a lot. I tell a lot of the girls on my team who are just learing to do them, to hold on or lean against your bed or door or anything, for balance- it's just kinda hard to simply fling your leg up hold it and maintain your balance all at the same time when you're first just trying to get the hang of things. I also do them lying on the floor. Then you don't have to worry about falling over. the only thing is things will still be a little more difficult than on the floor because of the force of gravity.
Also what will help, is besides for relying on your arms to pull and support your leg, build your leg strength so that you won't have to do quite as much work- this leg strength will come in handy particularily when doing front leg holds.

At this point I would just say leg stength sounds like it may be the issue, cuz i f you don't have enough strength to support the leg for a period of time longer than simply a kick your extension won't happen. Does it feel like you have the potential to have a high extension but supporting it for a long time is the issue, or is it more of the flexability? |
