So, we're thinking about doing a late Nutcracker here at DNBT. There is a poll for input, but seeing as it seems as if most people want to do it, I thought I'd see what people thought about roles. Now here's what I would know as traditional, but if we want to mix it up or do a more modern or different Nutcracker, that would be cool as well. Like, we could go traditional, or choose a theme or something. Like..um... tropical? Well, bad example, but anyways: Here are roles I was thinking of, due to the number of people:

Clara
Fritz
Drosselmeyer
Party Guests
Doll/Harlequin
Mice
Mouse King
Soldiers
Nutcracker
Snowflakes
Snow Queen (Maybe king? We don't have guys,though...)

Spanish
Arabian
Chinese
Russian
Mirlitons
Mother Ginger/Pollinchinelles
Flowers
Dewdrop
Suger Plum (cavalier?? again, no guys)

So, thoughts anyone?

If we're short on people, some people with minor roles could do two I guess.

I'd like to do a traditional Nutcracker but not sure what others think.

Oh, and also do people say they want a certain role? or do you just draw names out of hat? Is it based on real life dance experience?

Oh, and for the us not having guys to fill guys roles, maybe make the person playing it a girl? And maybe slightly changing the name like...I don't know... Aust Drosselmiya :P

I agree wholeheartedly. No matter if we have enough people, or guys or not, it should be fun.

ooo, am well excited, I've never been in a nutcracker, I'd quite like a big part, but I'm almost 19 so a little old for Clara. I was thinkin, how bout a pirate nutcracker, where the start would be the same, but not at Christmas, the nutcraker turns into a pirate rather than a prince, and he an Clara sail away to the island of sweeties where there lives a tribe of people who moved there from many contries and are very patriotic so like to dress as the produce which comes from that country (Okay we may have to think of another way to work that bit, maybe they are a tribe of sweeties)
it's kinda crazy, but I'm obsessed with pirates, and it'd be new an fun.

Haha.....Ballet_Baibe's idea sounds kinda cool... and we could easily adjust the roles to suit our number of people and everyone!

As you can see, I'm pretty flexible about what kind of Nutcracker we'll do! :P

I like that idea also, since the real nutcracker season is pretty far away...

I like that idea. If we don't have any guys here, can we cast Johnny Depp as the pirate :P it won't be hard finding pictures for whever does the costumes!

Gosh, a pirate Nutcracker does seem pretty cool...
Sounds like a good idea! How does everyone feel about that? We could do the whole thing "Pirate themed" :)

Yes Yes! :P

We'll have to work out the roles. We'll have to rename some characters/ modify the story a little...are you going to do that FireBird or do you need some more input?

This is exciting. I'd love to do Nutcracker!

By the way, I signed up here a few days/weeks ago. I hope I'm really in now. I'd really love to join in with you all!
