Locked by BJHfan_3 (161650) on 2007-03-06 18:07:39 No post in this post for a while and too old.. I am making another post like this soon.

Okay... like the title says... i am going to add some info on my chain letter post a long time ago like in the beginning on January.

Here are some chain letter facts... check out this website I found:
www.cs.rutgers.edu . . .

Here are some chain letters that actually have been sent to me:

1. A old woman went to the grocery store to buy dog food for her dog. She went to the register and the cashier said, "You can not purchase this food with out the pet itself." So the next day she went to the same grocery store to buy some food for her cat. She went up to the register and the lady said,"Lady, you can not buy cat food with out the cat itself." So the next day she came to the store with a plastic container. She told the cashier to put her hand into the container. She said, "No i will not put my hand into the container... something in there will bite me." But she put her hand in it anyway... and screamed. To find out what was in the container send this to 8 people and press F8 and the container will pop up on your screen and you will see what was in side.. i'm not lying... this really works!!!

Pro: Okay... this only is good because it catches people's eyes and they actually do it. After getting this atleast 10 times in my total life time, I never attempted to try it. This would get a little kid to try it...

Con: This sends viruses to your computer and can damage your computer by pressing F8... who knows?

2. Guys: Put your hands around her waist firmly
Girls: lay your headback on his shoulder and put your
arms on his.
Guys: whisper in her ear
Girls: giggle
Girls: whenever he tries to kiss you, don't just let
him, kiss him back.
Girls: When you want to cuddle with him, tell him
you're cold
Guys: automatically move closer to her. (if your
stupid then
you'll either say" me too " or you'll give her your
jacket... don't)
Girls: During a movie, if he puts his arm around
you,
tilt your head on his shoulder
Guys: lift her chin up and kiss her.
Guys: When she tells you she loves you, look deep
into her eyes, give her a peck on the lips, and tell
her you love her too... and mean it.
Girls: When you're both laying under the stars, put
your head on his chest and close your eyes as you
listen to his steady heart beat
Guys: whisper in her ear and link your hands with
hers.
Now make a wish about something you would like to
happen
between you and your crush.... *

don't you'll have bad relationships for 69 years >
by 12pm tonight ur 1
true love will realize how much they want you. if
you don't send this, your
life (not just love life) will have bad luck
forever ! send this or your
love life will be bad !!!!

Pro: it gets all of teens to read... but... they actually try it... bad bad..

Con: wrong idea...

Good Chain letters- They let people know how much you like them and if your friends.

If you get more good chain letters... you know you have good friends!!! Honestly... I get more bad chain letters from my bff...I'm mad at her for that.. but I get alot of good ones from this really nice girl I go to school with... at least I do get good ones..

Message of this whole post:

Don't attempt chain letters and don't send them either!!!

What is your opinion on this?
Thanks for taking your time to read...

Normally, I really dislike this sort of thing.

I did receive a fairly benign one recently. It was a text message I got on my cell phone. It said - here's a rose for you (with a picture of a rose). Send this on to so many people and send it back to the person who sent it to you, then you'll have a bunch of roses.

Okay, Good - Everyone likes roses and everyone likes friends.

Bad - Now I have all this junk in my phone that I have to delete. And I never thought about it, but can you get a "virus" or something like that on your cell? I don't know.

But my original position - I prefer for people to skip me when they are sending this junk out. Call me cynical if you like, they just annoy me, especially the ones that say 'and something good will happen if you do or something bad could happen if you don't'.

EDIT: I have no idea how that picture got on here. If a mod wants to delete it, feel free. I apparently don't know how.

About the possible virus on the cell phone... it could do bad things to your cell... just get them all deleted and make sure you do not open any more chain letters... ever again... this really could be bad...

Thanks for the reply!

I always just delete these things, Once I realise it's a chain letter. They are a waste of time. I always ask people not to bother me with them.

Me too! Then they stop for two months.. and keep going after those two months.. the sad thing is that this is the only thing my friends are sending me these days... stupid chain letters that don't work if you tried.

Say what?

As IF people actually think these things work. Approach it rationally - how COULD it work? Even IF someone could find out whether you passed the message on to the right amount of people in the specified time limit - exactly HOW would they be able to make you "lucky in love" for the rest of your life? Or stop you from dying? Or, for that matter, give you eternal bad luck with the opposite sex? And how could they do that not only for you, but for all the millions of other poor fools who passed it on - or the sensible ones who didn't bother?

Why are we listing "pros" and "cons" of chain letters? There ARE no pros. Waste of time, possibility of viruses, they piss people off, make people paranoid - that's just four cons off the top of my head. Btw I'm only talking chain letters that tell you to do something or burn in hell here - not just the ones that are jokes passed around friends.

If they're not teaching logic in schools, then what in God's name ARE they teaching? :?

^ They're teaching simple equations of physics, one at a time, as though the students do not understand the basic algebra behind the equations. But I digress.

What about those prayer things in newspapers? They seem like a sort of chain letter, or chain advert perhaps. Specifically I often see a St. Jude Novena, which has instructions for praying and then mandates that it be re-published, thus continuing it's publicity. I really really am not trying to bring religion into this debate- my purpose with this example is more about newspapers than with religion, it's just that this is the only sort of chain letter I have seen much in the papers.

Um... chain letters are bad, m'kay?

People who send chain letters are bad, m'kay?

Don't be bad, m'kay?

It doesn't matter if the light of a thousand angels are sent with a chain letter. They are stupid and a waste of time and space.

Just don't.

What I find so shocking is when full-grown ADULTS are sending along chain letters. It's like, "Are you freakin' kidding me? You're 25 years old!!!"

Not only are they wholly ridiculous and a waste of time and space, they're down right stupid and annoying. I have actually deleted people I know very well from my myspace because they post this crap in bulletins and stuff.

The thing is- a lot of times it's not just "A dog will come in the night and eat your face right off your scull if you don’t pass this on" type stuff- sometimes they send it as a free offer or “help this person”- I don't get how people don't see that this is a SCAM. They believe it, and they send it to tons of other people who might also believe it. And it goes on and on…

I used to respond to the sender and try to explain how it's a scam- a kid isn't going to get $1.00 from the make a Wish Foundation for every email sent or whatever...and I try to give them the logic behind how dumb it is- there’s no way anyone could track this email/post to give some “dying” kid some money. Even if they could- the Make a Wish Foundation would have to be pretty cruel and evil to tell some kid with cancer he can only get help and support from the organization if he send emails as a chain.
If people took a second to think logically, they would realize how dumb it is. But they still make their rounds.

If you fail to send an email on- you won’t be single for 50 years…but if you spend all your free time sending chain letters over the internet- you might be.

There is no girl with no face coming for you with a butcher knife. There just isn’t.

“Tom” from Myspace doesn’t RUN Myspace- therefore he’s not making those announcement people pass along. Tom sold the Myspace site a few years ago and has nothing to do with it. They just keep him on there as a mascot or whatever.

Prada isn’t going to send you a hand bag for sending 10 people a freakin message that says “free bag if you pass this on.” Hello? Like they’re going to give you a 600-dollar handbag for passing an email out. Give me a friggin’ break.

Now I just delete them and carry on. People are gullible and no amount of logic will stop their stupidity.
