Well, it is coming close to audition time for the colorguard that I coach at. We only have a few days to teach the students a lot of information. Dance basics, poise---all basically body awareness so that when it comes time to teach them how to spin a flag they have a concept of their body. I also need to find a short audition routine song. Any ideas or helpful advice for leading the audition process?

Well although I'm not a coach I think since theese boards are pretty dead I can be of service to you anyway.

Are they going to have to jazz run? If yes I say definately try and teach them that the people on my guard usually have a really hard time learning how to jazz run effectively, but maybe thats just my guard.

Also for music selection I would try to pick something popular for the piece because if they want to practice at home, like air guarding it then it would be good to have the song easy to find. Boston by Augustana would be a good choice also Keep holding On by Avril Lavigne would be a good choice to show grace and some skill. I think for the song something easy to find and has a easy melody would be great for the prospective newbies to try out with, so they can practice.

If you need anymore help let me know, us guardies have to stick together to keep this board alive (my posts from november finally got bumped to the second page)
