how long is the skirt on a figure skating dress for ice dance? Im looking at skating costumes online to use as a performance costume for irish dance and Im just wondering what the exact length measurement is.

For ice dance, AFAIK it can be as long as you wish, or rather, as long as you are capable to skate in If you remember, Marina Anissina's dress for OD in 2002 was unbelievably long to the point that, at least to me, it was almost scary to watch (when she was deep on her edges the dress went down past her ankles!). It matched the flamenco rhythms perfectly, though
The only ISU regulation on the length of a skirt that I know about concerns synchronized firgure skating. To quote, "Ladies skirt must not be below the top of the calf of the legs for safety reasons" (Rule 902). For ice dancing no such rule exists, to the best of my knowledge.
EDIT:
OK, only now I've realised that you don't mean to use this dress for skating. But what I said still holds - there is no fixed lenght of the skirt, it can be as long as one wishes. |

No, there is no minimal lenght either; well, as long as it's stil a skirt and not a narrow piece of material wrapped around. Ice daning skirts are usually longer simply because they can be. Solo skirts can't be too long because they would hinder jumping; in ice dancing there is no such obstacle. Besides, ice dancing is strongly connected to ballroom dancing and usually longer skirt looks more "ballroom-like" or elegant and less athletic. Then again, it also depends hugely on the particular dance in question. E.g. when jive was the prescribed rhythm, skirts tended to be just as short as any random solo skirt would be (just covering bottom). On the other hand waltz dresses are usually past the knees.
Haha, I've just had this thought... it would actually be interesting to see a skater in a tutu It'd be difficult to do partnering things with it but officially there is no rule prohibiting it and it might look very cute |

Skaters have used Tutus in shows ...and why not?
There are no measurements for any skirts in dancing whether it be dance solo or pairs ...pairs seem to have longer skirts than soloists and still do the jumps

yeah. i read scott hamiltons book about how katarina witt had to add 'feathers' to her costume because it was too bearing, but i think it had nothing to do with the length of the skirt.
why dont you check out some figure skating online dress websites to have a rough estimate about the length that they use? (for ladies, not ice dance /synchro)
i love the dresses here, you can check them out
