ADVICE ON YOUR SOLO

1.don't make your solo to hard, make it nice and simple but affective so you can get noticed, and not forget you routine.if you are flexable put moves in it like leg hold, backcatch and splits.

2.SMILE, this is very important, and also its nice to see it also makes you look as if your enjoying yourself.if you are good at facial expressions use these.I cant do the facial expressions so I just smile or if I know the song that is on I sing along to it.

3.First think about the move you are going to do before rushing into and forgetting what your doing and making yourself look stupid. take your time but be fast if that makes sence lol

HAIR,COSTUME AND MAKE-UP

1.your make up should stand out from a mile away, make sure you wear lots of blusher also for eye make-up it is good to use the paint stuff as it is easy to put on and stands out really really well, make sure your make-up matches the colour of your costume, remember though your not allowed to wear jems on your face as it is against the rules.

2.Your hair should be up high and out of your face so you can se what you are doing here are some good sugestions e.g 3 ponies and a quiff,a High ponie and a quiff, curly hair with a band in,3 ponies a combe-over and quiff, or just put your hair in a ponie or in 2 bunches.

3.You should already know that you just wear a plain costume but try and get a unique one, I wear a black 2 piece and not many other dancers do so I stand out alot, also floresant yellow is a VERY good colour to wear as it stands out really well.

FLEXABILITY

when I first started comps i wasnt very flexable at all. i kept practising at home and guess what ... IT HELPED lol.

I can now do the splits a leg hold, a side catch, almost a leg spin, almost a walkover and a crab and all these things get me noticed at comps.

1.you should ALWAYS strech before you practise any flexablity moves as you dont want to damage yourself and be off dance.

2.first of all try a simple flexy move like the splits, dont go for something to hard because you might hurt yourself, I started off but doing the right leg splits and i progressed from there, if you think about it, if you can do the splits you can do a leg hold .

3.if you need any help in getting more flexable ask a parant to help you at home (Iam sure they woud be glad to help lol) or friend or if your at a dance lesson your teacher lol.

I hope this has help all you begginers because it sure helped me.

maisie xx :D
