Hey girls! Thought we could all share our favorite competitions and our least favorites and why.
Favorite: American Cheer Power (so far)
Why: Great staff, organized, tons of venders, excellent facilities, great awards, TONS OF SPIRIT!!
Worst: Midwest Cheer Expo
Why: Inconsistent Judging (one judge docked us points for not liking our uniforms, another said that spiriting is not a part of cheerleading), holes and 'soft' spots in the comp spring floor, promised medals for each participant- didn't get any, and so much more lol 6 Replies to Best and Worst Cheerleading Competitions |

This is a great thread. It certainly helps to know before you go and spend all of that money!
Our cheerleaders love Jamfest, because they love Jammy. Don't ask me to explain it, I can't understand it, but it's a fun competition.
We will never, ever again go to AmeriCheer. They had one competition in November where they promised a spring floor, but had a 42x42 foam floor. And the music was a boombox with a mike. When I called to complain, they told me, Whoops, sorry. And that was it. So we gave them one more chance in February, and they day before, they decided NOT to use a spring floor and had a dead floor competition at spring floor prices. |

^ Thanks for posting that. We have never competed at AmeriCheer, but we are doing one of their comps this year. We are doing the Ohio Championships one and I know they will have a spring floor at that one. We won't do any others though now. Thanks!
Right now its all Cheer Power, a Jamfest, and the one AmeriCheer for our schedule. |

love the idea of this thread! well i have never been to americheer as a cheerleader from the northeast but from the ones i've been to, i love athletic championships. when my team went in providence it was organized and everything ran very smoothly. the competitor gifts, awards, and vendors were really great too. I'm not a fan of spirit cheer:
*the competition was an hour and a half late
* there were mistakes in the judging (they announced our team placing second at awards, however about two days after we found out that we won first)
*we still haven't gotten our medals yet (the competition was in march)
i think it's safe to say we are not returning next year |

That's funny. Spirit Cheer advertisers that they're always on-time.

I actually hated American Cheer Power. My all star team went to hershey park and ended up not competing until about 10:00 at night! It was so bad. never again
My favorite has been jamfest, I was dissapointed I didn't get to watch my team in Springfield this year (i'm at college near Boston but the public trains don't go that far). It was so much fun, inexpensive, admission to watch is free, everyone competes twice, purple spring floor, jungle gyms, mascot etc.
You can't beat NCA competition in term of organization. You will be in and out of there in less then two hours unless you want to watch the teams not in your division. I can see this for the all star championships as well as college.
The American Open was an awesome competition, but my team was just not up to par with the other teams there but it was so awesome just watch the teams like Top Gun etc. battle it out.
Cheerfest was really small. Our junior coed team won their natinoals one year but it didn't seem like much, the competiion was held in a high school! It also doesn't have a rule against belly button rings. I was on a senior all girl team at the team and the team that won had a bunch of belly button rings and we got 2nd, we were so upset we thought we had it in the bag just on that penalty alone. |

Regarding AmeriCheer... We go to the Ohio Championship one and we love it... However we have attended regional Americheer ones and they have ALWAYS been a neightmare!
Midwest Cheer Expo.... We used to love this one, but this year wasn't so great. Same issues as Tumblebug. We will try one more next year to see if they improve.
Jamfest... Never went, hear awesome things about it, will try one this year.
American Cheer Power.. Our favorite!
Great Lakes Championships.. These are also good ones.
Arnold Classic.. This is a fun one!
COA... Also great comps. We will be attending one of these this year.
I can't think of anymore more right now that we have attended. |
