Opinions on good guard songs? en>fr fr>en

Hi! I'm new here, just found this forum, very excited about having a place to chat with other colorguard enthusiasts. I currently coach a high school team in Kansas.

I know there have been threads talking about tryouts songs..but I started a new one because I'm coming at this from a different angle.

After doing this for several years, I'm running out of good songs to do for tryouts. (Our tryouts consist of them learning a routine to a song that I've chosen, they do not choose their own)

I need something easy enough for beginners but hard enough for girls who know what they're doing already. And for the life of me I can't come up with a song. I've been through everything! lol And I don't want to repeat one I've used before. Any fresh ideas??
Any help much appreciated!!

Well I just read through all 10 pages on here...I guess there are alot more posts about this than I realized...sorry about that! But since they are all so old...are there any new songs since then that anyone can think of?
Thanks

I sponsor a guard in Kansas City, and last year I decided that we would experiment and just use the song that we were going to use for our indoor show and step up the difficulty level (we used "Sparkling Diamonds" from Moulin Rouge). We had a single and a parallel in the tryout routine. We told the girls that they would get 3 bonus points for each toss. The result? An 18 member guard that can all do perfect parallels before the season even starts. I realized that the ones who really want it will step up, practice, and get it before the final days of tryouts and the ones that don't...well, I guess they don't make it. It really weeded out the ones who weren't going to try. It was the first year that we had time to have an indoor show because the girls already knew the routine. We got 2nd at both our indoor competitions. I hope this helps! : )
